What are some good headers for a 99 GSR?

I bought a JDM ITR header brand new for $350 a few years ago.

If you buy a header with a 2.5 inch collector (like a JDM ITR), you'll need to get a 2.5 inch cat and exhaust, or at least you should. Only a GSR with a decent build needs an exhaust that big. If your only doing an I/H/E setup I'd go with a smaller header like Greddy, Apexi, Comptech.
btw, all those header is the Great Header Test have 2.5 in diameter collectors, and most if not all of them don't simply drop into a USDM GSR. They'll bolt up to the head, but they are longer than stock at the other end.

I wont address brand. The diffrence some make between the others is minimal at best most of the time. Ill address style. You have 2 types

4-1 headers = Better performance at the higher RPM range, allowing maximum flow when you are 6k+ RPMs
4-2-1 headers = Even distribution of power over the power band.

Seeing as you have a GSR, go with 4-1, your Vtec will thank you.

if you go 41, just remember it sit lower than a 421 header would be, so if your lowered more than 2".. you might scrape it.. I'd would get a Hytech Tri-Y header, or even a replica of that header!

If you lived closer I would sell you my Greddy 421 header... and im pretty sure it would fit your teg, even though mines a LS...

4-2-1 headers = Even distribution of power over the power band.
Never heard that before.

The whole "4-2-1 header = good midrange, 4-1 = high end power" premis isn't true for hybrid headers. That's the whole reason for the creation of the hybrid header, more power production throughout the RPM range, not just a singular area of gains.

Well in the 2 pgs....not one person has mentioned...a 4cyl. cant run headers.
It's because he is asking about different styles and brands of headers. Not two for one engine
Those are 2 very different headers.

I hate threads like this.
I agree

You can't answer this question without knowing what mods someone has and what their future plans are along with their budget. There a lot of "good" headers, but just because it's a good header doesn't mean it's right for your application

Yep, but the thing is, you can say that, and people will still come in a spit out a random header names....and no reason for why that header they "recommend" would be good for him.

same with which rims look best on my car thread!
everyone has an opinion .....I liked my Greddy when I had it.. just get a used itr header and match it up to itr exhaust and be done with it! you could get everything for under $600 i bet
