I havent driven my car for a little while, so finally I get in the teggy all excited and Im driving. I get on the highway and drive about a mile, car starts smoking and smelling like burning oil.
I pull over into the nearest safe place which just so happened to be the parking lot of the local porn store, and I pop the hood to see if there is a visible problem. Then I notive oil on my firewall, and a puddle of oil of on the ground.
My dad came and we towed it back to my house and we checked the dip stick. No oil on it.

What do you guys think the problem is? Oil filter? oil pan? cracked block?

anyone ever have this happen to them?

check your oil pressure sensor...

hopefully its not a crack, but... I suggest you get underneath the car and look around... if you can see the back of the block from on top look, but grab a flashlight and search a LOT. Something isn't right if you had a puddle right after.

Have you changed your oil at all recently?

oil pressure sensor on back of block or oil pan gasket maybe even the cam seals if it runs and drives then the block isnt cracked

finally got around to looking at it today even though theres a hurricane about 90 miles away:???:.. i looked at my oil filter because it seemed like thats the area it was coming from..

i guess im a negligent teggy owner..

the last few oil changes ive done i didnt change my filter and it started to rust and there was a pinhole in it.. damn this salty air!:cussing:

but anyways.. thanks for the suggestions guys..

That has got to be by far the laziest thing I have ever heard. You may have damaged your motor over a 4 dollar oil filter. Great job dude.

thanks for the kind words!

im pretty positive i didnt damage anything because i always changed my oild before it even had a chance to get dark on me. and actually i havent even driven the car in the last six months or so. its been sitting in my driveway, which happen to be right next to the open ocean, which means the air is very salty, which caused the filter to rust on the outside, which cause a pinhole.

and it was prob two oil changes..

even if you havent driven it doesnt mean you can just neglect changing the filter...yes i agree it wasnt the cause of the problem, but still...change the filter please!
