New here, question on a 1995 Integra LS

Hello guys, just registered as I'm probably getting a 1995 Integra LS. I'm a senior at UCF, and this will be my first honda. I previously had a 1997 Eclipse GS, and right now I have a Ninja 500R (bike). Just wanted to get your thoughts on this ride, it has some high miles (210K) but inside is great. Outside is a little banged up, need to replace the front bumper and fill in some dents, and then get it painted. But mechanically the car drives great, I'm really looking forward to getting this thing back in pristine condition.

Just wanted to get your inputs, if you think this is a good deal. They are asking $2300, but I offered $1500 and I think they will take it. Thanks for any info.

How long ago has the timing belt and water pump been replaced? 1500 seems like a good deal though.

I had a 96 Accord with 209k that ran amazing.... till i slide through a stop light when it was snowing. Miles arent everything, especially on a honda or acura.

That is one thing scared me, the previous owner bought it at ~110K, and I asked him if he replaced the timing belt, and he said something along the lines of "no, it ran fine and I didn't have to" I didn't tell him that this would run perfectly fine right up until the timing belt broke, and then the engine would be totaled. So timing belt is the absolute first thing that I was going to replace.

And I totally agree about the miles, as long as the oil was changed these things will last forever. Sucks about the snow though, thats about what happened to my eclipse (except it was rain, and I met a guardrail on the highway).

Did the previous owner work on it at all? or had it done? Is it all stock as well?
He says he changed the oil every 3000 miles, so hopefully that is the case. He did some other stuff, change the master cylinder and did a brake job, but other than that he says nothing broke. It is 100% stock, so thats good.

I don't doubt this car could last well into 300K miles, assuming the fluids are changed at the correct intervals. Luckily the interior is in pretty good condition, so I think it will be a great car after a paint job and minor body work. Any known problem areas that you guys know of off hand that I should be careful of? Thanks for the responses so far.

As long as its not too beat up, it sounds like a solid car and a good buy for 1500. Only other problems i can think of right now is rust issues, but you dont have them issues down there do ya?? Oh, i'd check for oil leaks when u look at it, (valve cover, excessive exhaust smoke)

Haha yeah, no rust down here (unless it's a beach car). Thanks for the tips on the oil leaks, I'll be sure to check that out.

i think i would get a carfax report on it to see if the water pump and what not were done by the first owner. you never know if he did it before the sale.

not a prob, i almost got a 95 till i looked at the dip stick and there was nothing on it, and the salesman said the oil was just changed. then i found my 94 gsr that had a blown headgasket, kid warped block and head, bought it for 400.

ask about the timing belt, water pump, and timing belt tensioner all are very import and to be done at the same time maintence was done, also when was the clutch replaced last if it is an auto then it is worth about 1200 also does it have cloth or leather that is also something that affects the value(book value)
