do you drive a fast car?
is it true if i get aftermarket parts (say all i got is intake and exaust) i wont pass emissions and i have to take alll off my parts off and return to stock to pass?
^ Not necessarily true. It depends on what state you live in and the tech you take it to. Some won't even smog you if they see an intake, unless it's CARB legal.is it true if i get aftermarket parts (say all i got is intake and exaust) i wont pass emissions and i have to take alll off my parts off and return to stock to pass?
^ That also depends on what state you're from.depends...if your car is a 94-95 then they hook it up to the muffler to see the smog results. Usually if your 96-01 then all they do is plug into the OBD2 port and check to see if your throwing any codes...if your not, then your good
It's up to the computer to determine whether it passes or fails, although the tech might know if you've cleared any codes, based on their knowledge of the component statuses. The reason they tell you to drive your car 60 miles+ is so the onboard computer system can run its self-tests.Wite2nr is right their scanner can tell them if any codes have been cleared recently..
