i thought it was rev dependent because lower revs=lower gas consumption.

I'm averaging about 33mpg on hwy but i try to shift at 3000 rpm to stay out of higher reves and to save gas

Shit I used to shift as low as 1500rpm.. Sometimes I'd even skip-shift like start in 1st gear then go to 3rd than 5th, but I'd have to shift a little higher like 2500rpm.
