Painting My Car

My car is vouge silver, I changed the front, so fronts black. My friend will paint the front for $600, whole car for $1,500. A proffesional shop will do it for $2,100, takes 3 weeks. So whats better, cheap, or expensive, but proffesional.

My concept: Do it right the first time around. I'd have the paint job done by the professional. That way, you don't have to worry about the quality.

1500 is a lot for homie price unless hes a professional and using top of the line paint. do it right, ive seen 500 paint job that looks like shit, 800 maaco paint job that looked like an 800 paint job (car was white so it helped). paint jobs cost a premium but it will be worth it.

Why don't you just paint the front bumper if the rest of the car isn't faded. It should NOT cost $600 or even close to that just to paint the bumper.

$600 isn't for the front bumper it's for the whole front, hood, 2 fenders, bumper. He paints good, but he has to paint all of the car. If he just paints the front it will be a little off. It looks like this.

UUUHHHH-OOOOHHHHHHH...!!!
Ehhhh. It's hard to say which would be better. lol How well do you know this friend? You better make sure you reaaaaaaaally trust your buddy (for good reasons), otherwise he could end up skimping on the prep work, cutting corners, or just sucking at paint in general. Then it'll be too late, 'cause your money will be gone. The same thing could be said for a "professional" shop, though.

Either way, I'd do a bit of research and asking around before committing to either one. Don't forget to check out their work beforehand!

What color are you painting it?

He's a good painter. He painted my other car, but he's lazy. He works 10pm to 6am, get home, goes to sleep until 4pm, does somthing till about 7, Paints 3 hours and goes to work.

1500 isnt bad for a whole paint job, i would say thats a fair price, if you have seen his work and trust him, i dont see a problem with using him. Just because it isnt a "professional" paint shop doesnt mean he cant do professional if not better work, sometimes paying too much can get you too little.........

My friend and his dad painted his 240 pearl white with a black pearl roof and it is as shiny and perfect as can be, and they did all the work out of there garage......its all about how much of a perfectionist you are and dont cheap out on paint.....that is the most important.
