Yea, every now and then. Haven't run the dragon in awhile, but after that V7 EJ207 Spec-C gets dropped into my bay im going to have to try that beast! The EJ207 puts our 2.5L STI engines to SHAME!I like that lip, I think it would look good on yours in black. Also the red STI badge will set it off nicely. Do you come over to the border at all and run your car at the dragon?
We would get a good turnout. Because the last ones were on the coast, and although they were central longitudinally the location wasn't very Latitudinally central to the East Coast. The Dragon is a perfect location, just look at the map.So the EJ207 is a semi closed bock. Are you using the whole motor or just the block? I'm guessing the heads are a little different also if they are the spec c heads? Isn't the loss in displacement going to hurt or are you going to stroke it with an STI crank? Sounds bad ass though.

I figured that the heads were bigger in the ej207, I know alot of people swap them on their sti blocks. I've heard of people taking those ej207 blocks and putting sti crank and rods in them. Don't know if it would work with those pistons but sounds cool. Well can't wait to see a build thread.Beleve it or not he Ej207 can spin bigger turbos just as well as the Ej25. Its Semi closed, thicker walls than the Ej25 and larger coolant passages.Fully forged rotating assembly, Ej25 has cast pistons. Full AVCS (Vtec) that really gets the turbo spinning (USDM JUST went full AVCS in 08). 8000rpm redline (can take 8500 stock, but id rather not push it). Finally higher compression.So the EJ207 is a semi closed bock.
But the big difference, the difference that puts the EJ25 to shame, the heads. The USDM STI heads SUCCCCKKKKKKK, up high they just drop off, BAD! The WRX heads give the WRX Ej205 better top end then the STI Ej25 because the Ej25's heads are that bad.
The Ej207 is a STI engine. Its the STI the rest of the world gets. I has a fully forged rotating assembly. The V8/9 crank is special (large oil passages, and its treated). The USDM crank is forged (but then again EVERY Subaru has a forged crank). The USDM STI crank is nothing special though, it might actually be worse than the Ej207, idk, but im saying that because the USDM STI cant rev past 7k where the Ej207 bottom end can take 9k, and factory redline is 8k. But thats all irrelevant, because Subaru cranks really dont need to be upgraded, they can take hell! Even the USDM STI with its cast pistons can take 500whp (ive seen a couple doing this, not sure how long it will last though).Right but don't they have different versions of that crank? I'm pretty sure there's a v7 which is pretty much the same as the usdm wrx cranks and then there's the v8/9 which come from the ralliart.
Yea they are. People just get the Legacy 2.2L. Closed deck. But the only issue is cooling then. For a drag car, all the big guys run the Legacy 2.2l closed decks. But on a track you will find Ej207's.Yea I think the EJ207 v7 crank is the same as the ej205 wrx crank. I think the v8/9 are double crossdrilled while the v7 are single drilled, and they are tufftride treated. But like you said, all subaru cranks are built like bricks. Weren't the EJ22 blocks closed decks? I'd like to get my hands on one of them.

I wont have to do a thing really. This engine is a OEM engine. Im basically getting a used engine with all the parts on it and dropping it in. No assembly required, well, a little :lol:So are you rebuilding your motor yourself? If so, are the subaru opposed engines like the Porches? Because, I love Porches but, they're motors are so fucking hard to build, they have so many little O-rings in them, and if you forget just one, you have to take it all apart and do it all over again. Especially the older 2.7-3.2 air cooled motors. I'm just wondering in case I ever decide to build one. Really Honda motors are the easiest thing I've ever taken apart, it's kind of amusing how simple they are compared to some engines out there.
