How many miles do you have on it? DId you abuse it? When's the last time you had your tranny fluid changed?

it's got 90,000 on it and I have never abused it but I have no idea about the previous owner.

Chances are the tranny fluid has never been changed. Change the fluid and see how it shifts. Tranny fluid in an automatic should be changed every 60k. You have to figure that the fluid in your tranny is about 10 years old. As for babying it, just see how it shifts after changing the fluid. Did the car have any omds when you bought it? That will give you somewhat of an indication of the abuse the car took.

change fluid .. it stopped mine when i had it
awesome thanks. and thank you to all that posted, hope this works, I would buy a damn owners manual but they are 30 dollars at acura. I figured it was 60 k and I highly doubt it was changed, you should have seen the oil when i bought it and changed the oil. the engine I am buying comes with a tranny and such so hopefully this works, I'll be back if it doesn't.

i have an extra owners manual laying around if you want one i can mail it to you... i have one for a 97 and for a 00'...

alot of auto trans slip when they are low on fluid too.. so i would check that first.. then do a flush if the fluid is dark or brownish..
