I have a 99 Integra GS, and there is a rattle sound that has been getting louder. At first I could hardly ever notice it but now it is getting noticeable so it is time to get it fixed. You can hear the noise at around 1,000 rpms and about 2300 rpms when you accel. and decel. It is loudest when the car is just started. To me it sounds like a top end noise when you open the hood. The oil is not low (just checked yesterday) but it does have a valve cover gasket leak (part on the way from honda). I didn't think the gasket leak though would cause this though. Please help!

is it like a rattle that sounds like a piece of metal runing inside the motor . my car does the same thing only when i turn it on in the mornings like at 2500 rpms it started since i busted my oil pan but never knew what it was

Yeah it mainly does it in the mornings or if I haven't driven it for awhile. but it does sound like what black *dc* was talkin about. The car runs perfectly fine. I just wanted to get it fixed before it becomes a problem.

Yeah the same exact thing is happening with my 1998 LS. I just bought it and I really don't know all that much about cars. It would be cool if someone figure's this out please post with thoughts.

take your heat shields off
those things always rattle
Agreed.

There could be alot of things to be honest, you did say you checked your oil and it looked fine. I was you i would rip out the head and inspect it. At school some kid brought his car in and we did compression test and 2 our of the 4 cylinders were okay we did a leak down test on the middle two and it was bad... We all though it was a head gasket until we took off the head and notice a piece of the valve was missing and we found it on the other cylinder which did bad damage to the wall. We went back to the customer and asked him what he heard and he said it was a clicking noise everytime he started up but went away after... Im just sharing what happened maybe could be going on in your motor

Yeah I am going to have the value cover off pretty soon (replacing a gasket) so I figured I would check things out then... it probably is the heat shields though because the car runs pretty strong so who knows.

o ok, just making sure a friend of mine had p/s and a/c removed in his b16 swapped eg and it turned out that his a/c bracket was missing a bolt and made horrific 'music'
