so, after that thread i made the other night, you guys pretty much settled it, im stopping my intent on making it look good, and going for preformance. so, now i need yalls help. what is yalls opininons on what is hould do? what engine, what mods? remmember, i will be on a budget come fall. So remember because of this, that means that i will need to get out as much horse power as i can with spending as little as i can.

I will want to replace my engine for the most part starting. Why you ask? the LS that my RS has in it right has over 192k on it right now and if i want more horsepower, i want a fresh start. so please pointers, idea's opinions.

engines are no where near my thing, so as much help as i possibly can get is appreciated. im wanting to set a good goal for myself. im all ears

thank you in advance.

192k on the engine is not bad to start modding, also considering your on a budget. Modify the suspension, you wont exactly get faster, but you'll get faster on the corners

my suspension is fine, i dont want it slammed, atleast not right now, getting into my drive way right now is a bitch. i want to start on motor. To you, 192k might not be alot of miles but it is to me. like i said, i really wana start fresh.

192k isn't bad to start off on, it will be a great engine to learn on. You won't feel so bad messing it up then starting fresh with something else and making a mistake on it and losing that investment. Do you basics first, Intake, Exhaust, Header, Fuel rail, etc. This will get you familiar with the car. Also you will need to start getting your tool collection going, which most people over look.( I have more money in my tools than my car right now) I would also consider suspension mods like DeAcevedo said. There's nothing like putting your passenger up against the door though a turn. Just my thoughts...

my car is already lowered on tein stechs right now, like i said before with the suspention, i do not want to go any lower, getting into my drive way blows already and i dont want to make it even worse. you are right about the engine part tho. i mean i already have an intake, exhaust, but no headers. i had been thinkin about getting a set, but then just decided i would rather just go ahead and start fresh with a new engine.

but, wouldnt it be the same as getting a new one if i just ended up rebuilding it?

You can always get an engine, build it up over the summer and swap it out before fall. There will be alot to learn in this time frame though, and I take it this car is daily driven so I would hate to see it be down for awhile with a swap taking place. I would be thinking of getting an intake manifold, throttle body with a hondata gasket. Then you can always swap it over to your next engine when the time comes.

yeah, it is daily driven, if i were to do a swap it wouldnt kill me, it being down for a while. i would have other forms of transportation for the week or so that it would be down. that wouldnt realy be a problem of sorts to my knowledge. i just dont want to be putting money into my engine and then BAM! its fried or something. ill be needing a new clutch soon as well as maybe a new transmition, that was the whole reason for me even considering a new swap of almost everything.

I'd just get a rebuild kit for your LS. It'll be almost like new and a hell of alot cheaper. And for a good cheap setup rebuild the motor put b16 pistions in it, some cams, cam gears, and chip and tune it. Also get a b16 tranny.
