Getting an integra with ls/vtec

I read some stuff about ls/vtec and found out that they arent reliable if they arent installed/built properly. I saw a car im really interested in getting, its a 95 LS with 156000 miles. Does anyone think it would be a wise idea to get it, or know a good way to inspect it or approach the seller, to make sure its in working order?

BTW I'm guessing fuel economy is roughly going to be about the same, until when i hit the vtec engagement, if so does anyone know what it is by then? i searched on google and cant get a clear answer.

With good maintenance, your engine should be running fine. I have almost 204K miles on my B18C1 and it's still running strong.

A lot of miles. I got my GSR with an LS motor with 68,000 miles for dirt cheap...

well everything dosent work well if its not built properly
but i would ask him about it, and maybe pull the spark plugs see if there is any oil on them
if so, DONT get it! haha
or i would have a local shop look at it
