2nd Gen LS won't pass emission... Fit valve?

I've been pulled over twice by the cops 'cause I still have a Louisiana tag...

My main concern right now is to pass the emission 'cause I can't get a GA tag w/o dat emissions test passed, and PLEEZ don't suggest me to move out of GA... --.--

My 91 LS studders a bit, Engine light isn't on, already changed Fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor (rotor, ignition coil, and wires). Already changed the timing belt. I've even tried one of those things that you put in the gas tank to clean the fuel system...

The FIT valve tho is broken BUT SEALED! it's just not being used right now, the input and output are both blocked to it... Could this be tho? I've been told that the FIT valve doesn't do anything.

(FIT Valve is right under the TB.)

I'm new to Club Integra BTW.

Thanks in advance.

what's a FIT valve??
The FIT Valve is the Fast Idle Thermo Valve, a cilindrical thing under the TB designed to allow more air to go into the intake while the car is warming up...

^x2. we'll probably be able to tell you why it's not passing.

Last time I took it, not even the gas cap passed... now it somehow made it <_<

IAC. I've never heard it called the fit before, but alright.

Your car seems to be running rich..... there are a lot of things that can cause that.

IAC would only be a factor if it is acting up at idle....... tho i don't see how it really stay's alive at idle when you have it blocked off like that.

Ah! LOL Hell nah! IAC isn't blocked at all, I'm telling you... the Haynes Manual calls that thing the FIT Valve, right beneath the Throttle body, (It also points out the IAC behind the intake manifold).
I also had to replace that Idle Air Control valve a year ago 'cause my car would rev up between 1,000 & 3000 RPM every second on it's own... common problem so I hear <.<

How to test the FIT Valve:

"The Fast Idle Thermo valve, used on some models allows extra air into the intake manifold when the engine is cold, causing the idle speed to increase.
Start the procedure with the engine cold. On integra models disconnect the intake duct from the TB.
Start the engine and let it idle, On integras, reach inside the throttle body and place a finger over the port that connects to the FIT valve. You should feel suction.

Warm the engine to normal operating temperature and check for suction again. there should not be any. if there is, the valve hasn't closed. This might be caused by a low coolant level or air bubbles. If the coolant level is correct
(it is...) .... etc. etc...

weird. alright tho.

so................. you technically don't need the fit valve.. are you 100% against taking the car to a shop?

Your catalytic converter is shot. Get it replaced.

Why isn't the FIT valve being used anyway? If a part's missing, it should be obvious that it needs to be put back on. There's no advantage to not using that valve.

Pretty much, yeah a good 95% <.< good mechanics are out of my financial range... and cheap ones like to do weird stuff... like, forget to refill the power steering res. before handing me back my keys, and allowing me to drive off like that... I know this from experience... (Good thing I checked).

True true... I'll start with buying a new FIT valve :D, Thanks for hinting the catalytic. I'll post back when those two are solved ^_^

I probably should have mentioned that the Catalytic converter fixed everything. :D
Blast from the past @__@ It was weird reading all of that shit that I almost forgot I knew. lol
