Advice on a GSR

I am back in the car market after selling my Z28 for an Eclipse GST and then selling that. I had my fun with my 'toys' but now I'm looking for reliability and gas mileage.

I found a 95 GSR for sale w/ 196,000 miles on it. However, the car is CLEAN with no rust and flawless interior. All maintenance has been done on time at an Acura Dealersihp (including recent timing belt, waterpump, radiator, trans service, coolant flush, brakes, tires, exhaust, and clutch @ 180k) and the carfax is clean.

Pics:

I know these cars last a long time - but he wants $4200 OBO for the car with 196k on it. That seems a bit high - but ALL the maintenance has been done with Acura Receipts. I'm going to take a look at it this weekend... anything I should look for and see as a red flag?

ANY advice would be good for me as I am new to these cars. Thanks.

Integras dont have timing chains so if that was his words i would be worried he does not know what he is talking about and with almost 200000 i would not pay over 3k but thats just me.

I was going to throw $3200 out there and get talked up to about $3500. Is that still too high? It is in really nice shape with all maintenance, and I really can't find any other integras in my area for cheaper....

You are the experts though, so I'll listen to you guys.

Also my fault - it is Timing belt.... just looked again. Here is the ad http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/car/580645715.html

We understand that it's in good shape, but the price to mileage raito is a bit high. It's almost at 200K. I say try to get it as close to $3000 as possible.

Okay - well I'll be sure not to pay over $3500 if I end up getting it.

Are there any common problems or things I should specifically check on these cars when test driving it and looking it over? Anything that would signal a red flag and walk away?

The only thing I know is to make sure there are no knocks in the vtec and no white smoke at high RPMS. Anything else?

kcombs

GS=goes slow
check to see if it grinds at higher rpm's (shifting that is)
check for water leaks in the trunk.
thats all i can think of right now.

dude. you're in the WI area? Why not just come up here to MN and pick up the 95 GSR, with 100K miles for $5000? I'm sure he'll do $4500 easily.

I would never pay that much for a car with that many miles.
