The Silver Surfer

I know a few people had wondered about this turbo, and recently picked up some information in regards to what its about.. ("spool" , top end hp, response, etc.) Mitsuman just finished his setup to about 12 psi to start, and is going a bit further.. Feedback and opinions are welcome, but I won't give complete specs of that turbo, but will let you know about the fact that it uses a 60-1 compressor wheel, and a different Turbine Housing and A/R. (I think I posted it here earlier). This was used on a 9.8:1 B18C1 built motor, with stock cams and Hondata management w/ 550cc injectors.

Here's a link as well as dyno information.

LA sleeves
cp 9.8:1
eagle h-beam rods
gsr cams
spooling performance "quick4" manifold
SILVER SURFER turbo
3 inch downpipe to muff no cat
skunk 2 IM
peakboost fmic
tial 44mm wg and 50mm bov

One last pic. The turbo looks smaller than what it is capable of.

Here's Spo

Here's a vid of the setup, numbers are in.
at 8.7 pounds of boost...

307.2 hp

at 12lbs

346.3hp
250.3 trq

Sorry.. Computer issues. I was saying that was a spoolin' Quick 4 manifold. this may not be on an Integra, but it is integra related because it is using boost on a B18c1

wow dude!

I'm impressed. Most of that seems reasonable too. I don't know if you'd need sleeves only boosting 8 psi. 300 hp at 8 tho?! that's awesome!!

Details! That says nothing and you know it.

How about a compressor map?

looking at the numbers that not much diffrenet than mine on crome so it seems pretty good. a buddy of mine got a free turbo from them because they want him to compair it to the T3/T4 60 trim from garett. and he bought a lot of turbos from them lol

For your reference:
This is not a full Borg-Warner turbocharger. We used some of the BW housings for this for fitment. It is a Garrett Borg-Warner hybrid that was created. 60-1 is strictly a Garrett product.

the S256 can share the same turbine housing.

the closer comparison would be the BW S256, as the 60 "trim" garrett has a bit less efficiency after 18-19psi with about 48-50lbs of airflow vs. this silver surfer which is about 651lbs/min of airflow at about 19psi. this means that the turbo is still has a bit a more in its efficiency range over 450whp, than the "60 trim" which peaks at that amount, and uses a smaller exhaust wheel than the Silver surfer.

Borg warnner uses its own equivlent. they made it to compete with the 60-1. they use the 60-1 specs. same thing

I'm sorry if you feel you are correct, but I am more than certain that you are not. As a Borg-Warner distributor, and analyst that works with the Auburn Hills group, as well as worked with Garrett for over 5 years in their consulting group, NO, it is a hybrid. I helped put this together with the blessing of both groups. Please trust me on this. I'm not going to debate any further. If you feel that you can't be wrong, then i will gladly leave you to your own devices, but this is NOT a strictly BW turbocharger.

I am simply trying to keep this on point for a particular application that some people have asked about, and disseminating information that those that have had questions about this application here, and on a couple of other forums. If you feel that this should go on to a higher level debate, Use PM or e-mail me, please.

No worries, what I'm trying to clarify is that it is more similar to the S256, there IS NO 60-1 BW. The difference is that the S256 w/ its Extended tip inducer has a bit more upper band range than the Silver Surfer (at a bit of a higher price tag.) Once the Surfer hits about 24-26 psi, it starts to surge a bit , and create a lot of IAT heat, because it is a bit beyond its efficiency, while the S256 will continue to work well into the 33psi mark. That doesn't make it the BEST idea, but it is a bit safer than with the IATs being about 15% cooler. While the S256 is about 1200, the Silver surfer is under 900 bucks. Quite a savings if you're looking for good power abover 350whp on a budget..
