turbo question?

i got a 97 teggy. i bought i used and it was mistreated. one of my piston rings is going out and its blows black smoke. I got a turbo kit for it. im planning on running 7psi. My question is will my car handle the boost? wIthout blowing the engine.

black smoke doesnt mean ring problems *rolls eyes*. do a compression and leakdown test. that will tell you if you can turbo your car.
