In a horse fighting match, two stallions are made to fight for the prize of mating a mare in heat. Before the match begins, trainers allow the stallions to sniff the mare, putting them in a fighting mood. Then the clash begins, and both stallions fight and inflict wounds on each other until one of them runs away and refuses to join the battle. The winner then goes for another series of rounds until a champion for the whole tournament is declared.

Aside from the physical pain and wounds that the stallions get, the mares are also subjected to animal cruelty, states Jaeger, since they are injected with hormones everyday to stay in heat for a few days.
