gee i dont think so. but im thinking id rather get a 450/4. its "staggered" output meaning i can send more power to the fronts and less to the rears. its a lot of power but i can just turn down the gain right? what do you guys think of the ALPINE MRP-F550

i've got nothing but good things to say about alpine amps, i've owned 2 and they've both impressed me. no experience with anything jl, but i've heard good things.

iono its up to you, your system. infinities with the jl satisfies me. i make any other car next to me sound like shit... even with their bass.

need to decide between the more expensive JL and i can run 100 watts to channels 1-2 and 60 watts to channel 3-4 or get the cheaper alpine and run between 80-90watts all around. dunno what yall think? am i safe overloading the rear speakers by 30 watts?

i'd go with the alpine and just turn the gain down a little. one of the alpines i had was a mono channel sub amp, and i was pushing a "baja" 12 with it [circuit city gave me two of them free with the amp]. the amp pushed 150 watts rms and the sub was only rated to 75 rms, and i never had any problems. that is, until it was stolen... :(

It's better to have too much power available than not enough. Just turn down the gain.
I thought Alpine was a decent amp, and it is, untilI bought an Art Series Precision Power amp to replace it. I couldn't believe the difference just an amp can make. And it was a straight up swap of one 25x4 watt amp for another 25x4 watt amp. Blew me away. I only buy PPI amps, and I only buy old school PPI amps ('97-'02), not the hideous newer ones made by DEI.
If you buy that older JL amp, make sure the terminal screw heads aern't stripped. JL used allen head screws in their amps in the beginning. They came out for the first time in '01 or '02.
