Car won't start, battery?

yah so i go out last night and my car won't start. not even a turn over, it just hums and the lights dim when i turn the key. i first thought it may have had something to do with being extremely low on gas and it being really cold but even then it should at least turn over a little bit...since its gotten cold there has been a hesitation like 2 or 3 seconds before it would even start cranking after turning the key.

let me know what you think, i will just go get a battery if i am sure. thanks

check your fuse box next to the battery. check for a blown fuse, have you done anything to the car recently like any mods?

haven't done anything, like i said, it was hesitating before it would crank when it started getting cold, now its cold as hell, so i'm thinking my battery died. my roommate has jumper cables so ima try them when he gets home

mine died yesterday with the same issues. replace the battery not it starts up fine now

Just for referance: It is typical for vehicle batteries to go bad during cold weather.

Here some quick tips incase people seach this thread with the same problem:

When you turn the key:

if your car lights fade, and you hear no starter clicks, your battery is weak/dead

if your car clicks slowly, your starter motor is going bad (check the voltage across to verify)

if your car power dims while your driving or dies and your battery is weak and you have to constantly get it charged, your alternator is going (check voltage across to verify)

*for those of you who live in colder weather areas i.e. the nothern part of the U.S. Look for higher cold crank power on your batteries.

I did the same thing, the problem is, the next day I start my car, the lights are dim agian. My wipers slow as hell. I didn't think anything of it, so I drove to work (40 miles away from home). I get half way to work, my lights get even dimmer, deck dies, my door lights come on (on the gauge cluster). Drove to my grandmas, Car dies. I try starting it up agian and it won't even crank. I wait 2-3 minutes, the car starts right up, agian with all the symptoms listed. Left the car there.

After work, i start my car, it starts perfectly. The interior lights aren't as dim, the wiper is just alittle bit slower than normal. I shut car off, and i try to start it up, starts right up, perfectly. A friend told me to take the positive off while the car is running (to check alternator), well enough, the car stays on.

I'm so f***ing pissed and lost. Help? I'm in the MN/WI area so it is fairly cold here now (hasn't been over 20 degrees).
