amp. mounting questions

hey guys, so i got my harness together. im ready to begin installing my complete sound system (yay!) anyways, i dont know how or where to mount my amp. i definetly do not want it under the seat, unfortunately the space back behind the headunit on the tunnel is too narrow. i guess i will have to settle for mounting it to the backside of one of the back seats. my question is, how should i go about doing this? should i first mount the amp to a piece of wood, and then mount the board to the seat? something like so the amp isnt touching metal right? also, what could i used to mount it to the back of the seat, if im not mistaken, its just a bunch of fabirc and foam and then the metal seatback right? what do i need to do to anchor it securly? thanks

There are metal strips behind there. If you take off the carpet over the back of the rear seats you'll see them, and you can line up the amp board so that the screws actually go through the metal area. You may be OK with mounting the amp directly to the seat back, I've never done it in an Integra so I dunno for sure, but I'd guess you'll be OK doing it and not get any noise.
But if you want to play it safe and use a board, line up the board with the metal areas and mount that first, then mount the amp to the board. A piece of 1/4 inch MDF would be fine to use, you can get a 4 foot X 6 foot piece for like $4.50 at Home Depot, you can use the extra for speaker plates if you need those.

damn that sub is big man. so how do you have the amp mounted, just to the seat with no wood? did you mount the amp on the fabric or cut the fabric around it? thanks

If you want to mount the amp without a board and are worried about the amp getting too warm by being right on the carpet, a trick you can do is buy some grommets at a hardware store and put them between the amp and the seat. Buy as many as you feel you need to raise it up enough.
I bought these little plastic circles to lift my amps up off the board, they're like 10 cents each at the hardware store.

An amp running at 2 ohms playing loud in the summer mounted right on the carpet may get too hot for the amps good. Ohm load has a big affect on the temperature of an amp.

I think patch cables and RCA's are the same thing, can't think of what else would be called a patch cable. We call them RCA's or signal cables up here in the northeast, lol.

yeah i known them by RCA or signal cables too. but i was looking at a diagram that called them patch cables. so i decided that im going to install the headunit and amp myself but leave the fuse out of the amp's power cable. i may or may not install the rear speakers solo, depending on the difficulty. but for the front components i think im going to take it somewhere to get it done, i heard it is difficult to run the wiring for the front speakers. i definetly bought speaker wire but now im wondering if i need to use it. would i be okay with the oem wires? will the thicker speaker wire make a big sound/noise difference?

You heard right, it's a major PITA running speaker wire into the front foors.
Is your car a 2 or 4 door?

The panel covering the rear speakers extends all the way to the rear of the hatch. A 4 door would be easier. It just takes some time. You need to remove the entire rear seat, then the back panel across the rear of the hatch, then you can take off each side panel. They're held in with a few phillips screws, a 10 or 12mm bolt or two, and a bunch of pops on the backside. Just pull carefully section by section and hopefully you won't break any.
Running your own speaker wire from the rears to an amp will be easy, you should at least do that instead of using the factory wire. But running your own wire into the front doors does suck.
