hey everyone

so im looking to buy my first car, and not sure what to pick
i really want to have a car to be proud of, and shut up all the ricer kids at my school who think there new exhaust on there civics are bad ass.

i just want a car to be happy with and narrowed it to a 97/98 integra ls, 98 bmw 528i, or a rsx.
i only have about 7 grand though, and want an auto first.

any input would be really appreciative.

The 3rd Gen Integra's went through some body changes for the 1998 model year, so maybe you want to look around the site a bit to see which style you like. It's gonna be very tough finding an RSX in that price range, it'll have a ton of miles on it if you do. Same story with a 5 series BMW, unless it's 25 years old, lol.

im really familiar with integras, my freind has one, and im leaning toward the 98+
and the rsx, i gave up on that one lol no way u can get one for that price
the bmw u can find one 98 100,000 + miles around 10g

im basically leaning toward the integra, dont know wat to do to put alil power to it

base ls = 140 hp
want it to get atleast 160 but am alil strapped with cash, seein all i got is 7 total.

Why an auto? No offense, but a lot of ricers who think their car is hot shit have automatics. That's not to say that everyone's like that. I'll be willing to bet you'll run into one with stick who'll laugh at your auto when you wanna "shut them up." Whatever tickles your pickle, though.

If I had a choice, I'd probably do a RSX (type-s). 528i's are fun to drive, as well. I personally think they have more potential. That's just me, though.

Why are you set on LS'? GSR's and Type-R's aren't bad at all if you're looking to shut some ricers up. Then again, I guess you've already decided you want an automatic.

Just so ya know, '97 and '98 tegs differ in a few things. I suggest reading up about 'em on CI before you decide what you want for sure. I wish I did. lol Good luck and welcome to CI! =D

reason for auto is becuase im still learning shift from my moms car, i dont want to get a manual till im really ready (dont really want to mishift my car and mess it up lol)

and as for the rsx, i cant even afford, cant get one for 7g...i wish

and i know the diff between the tegs, mainly body differences, and i prefer the 98 bumper looks

trinh covers all the basic things. at school, there's this dropped integra with one of those racing stripe decals from nfs- underground, and it's an auto. 98+ have a much sleeker look to it, I noticed that the rear quarter panel is more well defined, too. but if you're set on an auto, then that's really up to you. for me, i bought a '00 ls auto, and ended up getting a 91 ls stick because the auto wasnt enough for me.

7g's well if you want to be cool, why not fine yourself a 94-97 gsr integra, decent fun for a first car, then grab yourself a 98front and rear with the other money, ive been finding a lot of gsr's lately, but i mean thats oklahoma city, i dont kno wut its like in your area, but if i was to buy my first car over again i would get a 95 gsr like my buddy

Bumpers can always be replaced. If you run into a '94-'97 for a good price, I'd get it.

Sorry, I'm posting from the phone so my response was a little late. Didn't see what you said about the RSX being out of price range for you.

My teg was what I learned to drive manual with. Personally, I learned quick because I wasn't trying to fuck my car up. lol Motivation, almost. When I bought my car, I couldn't even drive it home. I had someone else do it. If you wanna learn, you just gotta go for it. No point fucking up someone else's car trying, ya know? That's just me, though. Plus, you might regret getting an auto in a few months when you master driving manual.

yea that was my thought, but my mom insist i get an auto for my first car until i "master" stick with hers...
kinda stupid to me

caus id really want a gsr, ls are just weak stock unless u mod it alil

I missed out on the PERFECT Gs-r because I wasn't sure whether I could drive stick or not. I still regret it everytime I think about it.

My mom told me to get an auto, too. She's pretty old school with it. She thinks only men should drive stick. Whatever, though. lol Unless she's paying for it, it shouldn't matter all too much to her.

You sound like someone who'll regret gettin' an auto...lol

Get a stick! It's waaaaay more fun. Plus you'll feel like you control your car, IMO.

well im payin 100% of it, not her
just the fact that she is the one cosigning lol

well auto or stick, that should run me around 5 grand

any ideas of what to mod with it to get a little more power with the 2g remanding?

intake, header, exhaust. that's probably what most would recommend.
