thats because 6th gear on the vettes is made for cruising their 5th is their top speed gear.Fast cars, but crappy 6th gear on Z06 VS 7 speed sequencial = owned

Not very impressive. We did 186 in my friends C5 Z06 headed from Houston to Huntsville. Although I would smoke him from 0-150.....that extra few mph doesn't impress me. A C6 Z06 should run up on 195 or so
But 5th is the same way in the C5 Z06. It pulls great to redline then 6th drops way tooo low. It would go faster with a better 6th gear for sure.

Wow I didn't think I would here something like this from you. An extra 36mph doesn't impress you, let me say the difference between 150 and 180 is huge when your experiencing it. My 260hp MS3 does 155mph, but it doesn't get there that quick. My almost 600whp M6 that I had did a little over 190, your saying a c6 zo6 should do 195. I don't know if many people realize how hard it is to hit 200mph but it's not easy. For example the McLaren SLR only does around 195 and that is a way faster car then the ZO6. Gearing and aerodynamics play a big role in it also but if you don't have the power your not going to make it, and I will say that 185-190 is like that magic wall because once you get there it seems impossible to get past it. 190mph is fast, really, really, almost uncontrolably fast.Not very impressive. It's just that 6th gear sucks. My friends Z06 would pull really go up to 165 or so then once he went into 6th gear it would drop all the way down to like 3k rpm's and pull slowly. 186 is the fastest we could get it......but that is scarely fast......Feels like the suspension is just floating and tires aren't even touching the ground. 6th gear just kills them cars. It would pull all the way to 165 like nothing....but that damn 6th gear would slow things down so much
