ok i need help now i wana lower it for kinda cheap but still have decent suspension. i was looking at skunk2 coilovers but whats the difference between those and lowering springs and im willing to spend around 100-200dollars. thanks

well in my gsr i have h&r springs and agx shocks... it looks really nice and im telling your it rides awsome u cant even feel that its lowered thats what i recomend.... if u dont have enough money for the shocks than get the H&R springs there not to much.....................

alright, you probally read the first page and that it, car is yellow now, neons are gone ,rims are black. I dont got to much money and wana lower my car. 200 dollars or less. Can someone point me to a suspension noob thread or something. im not sure of the diff between coilovers and lowering springs. Which ones are easy and cheap.

I prefer coilovers personally. Full coilovers are ride height adjustable with a adjustable preload and adjustable dampers and are the most expensive options. Drop springs are just regular springs that are shorter and have higher spring loads to keep your car from hitting the bumpstops. There are adjustable coilover sleeves like Skunk2 and Ground Control that still have shorter and stiffer springs but come with an adjustable collar that allow you to adjust the ride the heigth. They don't come with dampers so naturally they are cheaper than a full c/o setup. Either way, lowering your car on stock struts will wear them out quickly but you can do it that way if you don't have all the money to buy struts and springs at once if you don't mind tearing your suspension apart twice.

I've have just done it where I get adjustable sleeve coilover (i.e. Ground Control or Skunk2), put them in, and a few months later go buy some adjustable struts to go with them (Koni Yellow or Tokico Illuminas). Those setups work pretty good and you don't have to chump up all the money at once to go buy a complete coilover.

PS. I sold my used Skunk2 coilovers for $200. I would try to find a good used set of them or G/C if your on a tight budget

I have a set of the skunk 2 adjustable springs and they ride good and have a very broad adjustment range for lowering. They also weren't that expensive. around 200

I would never buy used suspension parts. Why don't you just get a set of springs, all good brands like H&R, Eibach, Comptech, Tanabe, Tein run around 200 or less and they will all provide a great ride, wonderful upgrade in handling and a nice drop that will look fantastic.
