Looking to buy an aluminum radiator. Which do you prefer...mishimoto, koyo, fluidyne? Also, needs to have mounting points, or strap to fit a fan behind it. I hear that the OEM shroud is to big for certain brands. So if you know of a company that works that isnt listed, let me know

Thanks

If I am not mistaken, Mishimoto and koyo are the preferred brands.

Might as well buy some high cfm slim fans while you're at it so improve on the cooling even more.

Thats a full size rad? I know this is a noob question, but do I need to do a flush, if replacing a rad?

Does anyone use a Fail-Safe Thermostat?

Do you mind me asking where you purchased it from? I might go to HPF to get it, since they're located in Portland, OR

Yes full size rad, I would flush the system since you're installing new radiator, I've always used fail-safe thermostats cause if it's just a regular one and it goes out than you're going to overheat, With fail-safe it'll protect your motor from overheating most likely, Mine was purchased directly from mishimoto. I'd recommend the clubintegra store. They usually got best prices and price match, Also helps support the forum.

Basically a regular thermostat when it fails it'll get stuck closed, Than motor overheats, Fail-safe if it fails it will be stuck open, You're heater etc won't work but your motor should stay cool. Basically like having no thermostat once if it fails

Thats what I was wondering. What happens when the Fail Safe thermo fails

Can I use any kind of rad cap, or the kind you have in the pic?

I'm pretty sure mishimoto radiators come with a mishimoto radiator cap when you purchase the radiator. But you can use any radiator cap. The one on my car at the time in that photo was just a autozone cap If i'm not mistaking... When fail safe fails, You won't have a heater etc. until you replace thermo lol When it fails it's just like not having a thermostat
