It's Summer.. F#@% - Roof Scope Thread

Alright, its not even summer.. its a few days into pre-summer and I'm hot as hell driving my car.
It doesn't help that my Integra is black.. with a black leather interior.. and it also doesn't help that I dropped my A/C.

I dropped it, to get +2mpg, more horse power and to tell my friends "look, I MAY one day decide to put a turbo in, so I made room!" But.. you can get turbo kits that don't make you drop the A/C.

Anyways, this thread isn't about: how I'm dumb, need to switch to fabric seats and put my A/C back in.
No, this thread is about Roof Scopes ;D

I was thinking, as I was driving today of a way to get more cooled air into the car (than just opening the roof and rollin down the windows) with out putting my A/C in. It dawned on me.. "wait.. F&F had those.. those things! On the top of their cars! Yeah!! Rally cars do that so they don't have to have A/C in the cars! That would be brilliant! Gay, riced and non aerodynamic, BUT BRILLIANT!"

So, my question for you guys is, Apart from buying one

  1. how could I make a roof scope that goes over the entire sun roof?
  2. A scope that possibly bolts on, for easy removal when I don't wanna look dumb
  3. What materials would I make this out of?
  4. how much are we talkin?

Forget that! It's already out! I'm not going to climb down off of this high horse!

Plus, I'd have to buy a new air condenser because the old one was beat'n up after 21 years, pretty bad.. so I'm past having A/C in my car, lol

This area, but I dont think it can fit? Youd be better off deleting your sunroof and then installing it.

Yes rally cars have roof scoops, functional ones.. The FnF ones were fiberglassed on and led to a solid roof. Like those AutoZone stick on hood scoops that are so common.

So either put your A/C back in or quit your bitching that it's hot because you deleted your A/C....

Yeah there isn't enough room for it with the sun roof there. But I don't want to delete it. I like my sunroof too much.
I want something that I can bolt on in the summer and take off at other times.

Plus, with the sun roof there, you can use that to control how much, if any, air comes into the car at any given time.

I think its a pretty cool mod to do. As long as its not on a gsr or type r lol.

Just remove the sun roof glass and fiberglass the fnf scoop on, Then never drive in the rain :lol:

I dont see how that is possible. If you want a functional roof scoop, you need to cut through the roof.
Look at the subaru sti hood scoop that scoops air to the intercooler. Thats a good example.

x2. You definitely need to cut through the roof to have a functional one. There is no removable functional roof scoop.

First car that comes to mind is the Highwaystar WRX (FL local). He runs a roof scoop, and had to cut a hole through the roof in order for it to open/close.



The inside latch looks somewhat like this

Okay.. So explain to me why I couldn't have an add on to the sun roof to bring air into the cabin of the car?
