Here are some photos I took last night of the damage DJ suffered from my last track event at SOW two weeks ago. Please forgive me for the poor quality of the photos. Lighting in driveway sucks and I had to resort to using the flash on my 5S.

Here you can clearly see that the bottom of the radiator support bent at impact when I went off track.

Here's a closer look.

The DC Sports header also got banged up. I definitely felt a loss in power in the sessions after my off. In the process of picking up a new header before my next track event. The reason why the block and oil pan is covered in oil is because the piece that the oil dipstick goes into came off. I need to HondaBond it back to the block. Thankfully it didn't completely fall off while I was on track or the drive home.

HOLY MOLEY! you bent the rad support?!

Ask dillon how he straightened his. I dont think you can do the way Justin and I did it to his green miata before it died.

DJ went straight into ditch, which I never knew existed at SOW haha! Romeo said to just hammer it down for now since I'll be getting a JDM front end soon. How hard can it be?

You doing the bash bar for the jdm front?

We tied a rope around the rad support and an I beam in the corner f the shop and just had a come along attached to the middle and started to pull it out. Guess you Could do that on the train tracks by Raceline lol.

Yes I am. I should ask Aaron to come down to LA so he can pull the radiator support using his buffness. :rolf:

Here are a few goodies I received over the weekend.

I'm going to use this Racing version over the regular Gates one I bought a couple of months ago. The regular one will be going in my spare parts bin.

I finally got around to picking up a set of yellow high beam bulbs for DJ. This is somewhat of a signature mod of mine that I do to all my cars. I've been doing it since I first got my license with my first car: 1991 Honda Accord LX Coupe.

Checking DJ's tire pressures during track events will be a breeze now with the new tire pressure guage from Joe's Racing Products.

Two more weeks until DJ and I head back to the track. I can't wait to get behind the wheel again...

Dam man sorry to see what happened to your car...do you have footage of it by chance?

Yes, we want to see footage of the carnage!

Take out your radiator and jump up and down the the support. Or get a really huge hammer and beat it like it owes you money. You just need it kinda straight until you get the jdm front.

Buttonwillow Raceway Park (03/15/14-03/16/14) Recap:

This past weekend, I attended the Raceline USA/SpeedSF track event at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Buttonwillow, CA. This was Raceline USA's second event of the year and my very first time attending a SpeedSF event. Unlike my last track event at SOW (Streets of Willow) last month, I decided to go for maximum seat time and registered for both Saturday & Sunday.

Saturday (03/15/14): #1 CCW:

On Saturday, the #1 CCW configuration was used. Unlike most of my friends who were present that day, I was the only one who as actually driven this config before. It's been about 5 years, but a couple of laps was all it took to get course layout burned into memory. I had almost forgotten how much fun running the #1 CCW config was. Not only was it a blast to drive, but it was also much more demanding than #13 CW. I find #1 CCW to be a bit more technical than #13 CW especially during the last sector starting from Bus Stop all the way to Off-ramp. You really need to hit all your marks there to get in a good time.

During the first session, I took it easy during the first hot lap, trying to reacquaint myself with the course. After each lap, I graudually increased my speed. On my 3rd lap, DJ snap oversteered going into Riverside, but thankfully I caught it. I still need to figure out the best way to enter that corner. My fastest time that session was a 2:23.xxx. I'll get the rest of the numbers when SpeedSF post the times up on their website.

The next two sessions, I started feeling more comforable pushing it hard out on track. At the end of the 3rd session, I ended up clocking a 2:21.xxx

Usually in the afternoon around 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, people start leaving the track, which is good because it means less traffic. During the 4th session, I was able to get a few clean laps and ended up knocking off another second resulting in a 2:20.206, which I can honestly say I'm proud of. I know I can knock off a few more seconds, but the Federal 595RS-R tires I was on just couldn't take the heat.

Back in 2009. I didn't rent a transponder, so the 2:20.206 I clocked is my official PB (Personal Best). I decided to not drive the 5th session to save my brakes and tires for the next day.

Here are some photos taken by Bill Wang on Saturday:

Here's me and DJ after the kink right before Riverside.

A wider shot at the same spot from above.

Sunday (03/16/14) #13 CW:

I woke up on Sunday feeling anxious, excited, and nervous. I've been to many track events, but the excitement is always there. Especially if you're a track junkie like me haha! That last time I tracked DJ at Buttonwillow (#13 CW config) was last February (2013), basically a year. Just to recap my last time at Buttonwillow, I failed to acheive a new PB (PB: 2:12.9xx) due to a crack in one of my Regamaster Evo wheels. The crack was located on the lip, which caused air to leak. My dumbass didn't bring a spare set of wheels, so I was forced to retire immediately after the 2nd session. I was absolutely pissed off! But what can you do right? That's what happens when you track your car. s*** happens. You live, you learn, and you keep moving forward.

Alright, back to present day... Once I got to the track, I emptied out all my s*** and did my usual pre-track checks and adjustments. I dropped my tire pressures, adjusted the damping levels of the Buddy Club RSD, and most importantly, checked the oil level. My dumbass forgot to bring extra oil, but my buddy Dylan AKA Samurai_Blue came to the rescue. He had some extra motor oil on hand and let me have a quart. Thanks again Dylan! I owe you one quart! After that, DJ was ready to tear up the track!

So the first session was a complete waste due to a Civic Hatch breaking down on track. I was able to get in two hot laps, but failed to PB due to traffic. I did a few 2:13s and 2:14s, which was nothing to be excited about. The second session turned out to be a little better. Even though traffic was present, I was able to PB and clock a 2:11.767. I thought I was going to be excited, but for some reason I wasn't because I knew I could do better.

The 3rd session allowed me to better my previous PB and clock a 2:11.228. So close to the 2:10.xxx range, which was my goal for Sunday. I tried my hardest to knock out two more tenths, but it was unsuccessful. The tires just wouldn't stick. After 2 laps, the 595RS-R just falls off and slides the car. I don't want to make excuses, so I've decided to go back out Buttonwillow next month to hit my target. I will hit 2:10!

The 4th session was by far the most fun I've ever had battling with another car. I ended up having a 3-lap battle with a fellow Integra owner, who I've never met before. He drives a DC2 ITR powered by a B20/VTEC engine. Turned out that he follows me on Instagram haha! For 3 laps, I played the cat chasing him, never letting off. I had a chance to pass at Sunrise, but didn't want to dive bomb him. Sadly, I forgot to turn on my Sony action cam and record this session. Yes I know... What a fail! Definitely had a blast!

Overall, this past weekend was the best track event I've ever had. I'm not just saying that either. I had so much fun on and off the track. It just reminded me how grateful I am to be surrounded by so many great friends that share the common obsession of cars and racing. I didn't reach my goal, but I ended up with a PB, so I'll take that. The most important thing was that I had fun and arrived home safe and sound.

Here are some photos taken by Bill Wang on Sunday and the last one was taken by my friend Ismael Gonzalez. Enjoy!

What I'll be installing this weekend.

I actually ordered this last month from Matt Ye from ICB Motorsport. Instead of paying for shipping, I waited for him to make his usual trip to LA to meet up with him to pick it up. Matt came to my house two weeks ago and hand delivered it in person. This guy is definitely good people. If you ever need mad tiiite JDM parts, definitely hit up ICB Motorsport! I'll post a picture of it installed ASAP.
