That was a bunch of 30 second exposures stacked on top of each other. Each 30 second exposure has a small amount of travel in it. The stars stay stationary in the sky and the earth rotates so you'll get those star trails.

looking to get rid of the purple in the after photo... obviously my beginning wasn't very promising.. i'm still working with photos from the first day i got my camera.. trying to perfect my processing skills.. kinda hard when you suck at taking photos tho.

took this that day.. battery didn't even have a full charge lol.

I believe its my monitor...your edit is very close ...i see more purple beacuse of the samsung..by when i view your picture on the dell true color...you picture comes out fine...so i dont think its your editing skills...i believe its just your monitor in particular..

heres one i re edited using the true dell display for color replacement..

i don think u you should give up...try displaying your photo on a dell true color monitor if you have one...trust me it will look hella brighter and more different in contrast...Thats the monitors we use before print anything for a customer...

if all else fails print the photo out on some photo paper...lol thats what i do sometimes...
