Integra GS-R ( B16 ) Super lightweight build!

Hey people ! Bought a 95 b16a2 integra gs-r about 2 weeks ago! I was on vacation last week but now im back and ready to spend time on my new project car! Im a bit tight for now financially until i get my Financial Aid for college so I decided to start one of the best and cheapest ( unless you are a carbon fiber freak ) mod.. Weight Reduction!
The intentions on this build are throwing away( or sell if i can ) everything i don't need to help the b16 under the hood.. Getting the car ready to drive for next year.. ( if i can be done with it by than.. ) and put out a competition on the drag strip..
I am going to drive the car on the street so i need it to be legal ( as much as possible , few things don't bother if it's not too out there. ) I do have a DD ( 2011 Dodge Ram Hemi ) but as you can guess it is a machine that is built only to evaporate gas... So i hope when im done i average above 30mpg ( give or take ) and be reliable to drive it long distance with no doubt.. Without sacrificing fun on the straights and corners..

MY goals...
Get as close as possible to 2000 pounds.
Score under 15 seconds in 1/4 mile.
Get average gas mileage of 30 mpg.
Be Reliable!!

Budget
For now 0.. In a month about 2000-2500 $

I dont fancy any comfort from this car any more than a go-cart.. So the power steering is allready out.. I want the A/C out.. Tried to fix the ABS too much hassle and money so it needs to be going out.. Stereo and speakers are out.. Everything behind front seats is gone...

I am going to take pictures as i move forward in the process and weigh everything to get an estimate on how im doing on weight .. I am also going on a diet and lose weight with my car :D

Any suggestions , comments and help is more than welcome and have a great day!

No fucks given.
I'm assuming you're going to yank out the carpet/sound deadening and plastic trim in the back.
Get an RS roof skin (no sunroof).
Take out that ABS unit.
Cf hood.
Lighter wheels.
Ditch the airbags.

That's all I can really think of right now.

All the carpet is out... Including the wood piece the spare tire.. Nothing but bare metal from front seats back.. Except the plastic side panels which i am also taking out.. I dont see any sound deadening so i think the previous owner has done that allready ( does it look like black tape ? I have like two small pieces of them? ) As i stated ABS and A/C are coming out.. . The wheels are rashed and chipped so I am looking into a lighter set about 15lbs a wheel and lighter tires as well.. Carbon fiber hood deff...How does RS roof skin work? What is involved in replacing it.. If i need to chop the roof out i rather it stay , I might do that cf panel thing later. Can i remove the Airbags myself ? Is it legal? Is insurance ok with it? Any trouble i can get in? Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the weight reduction club. That is what I am all about. If you want any tips let me know.

As for airbags. It is illegal to remove them, but that only matters if they notice it, which they usually don't. Also, for the passenger side you don't need to buy an airbag tray. You can use the top cover from the airbag. It is free and it will look like you still have an airbag.

I didn't even think of using the top

I never cheap out on anything i get for my cars... What i wanna know is do i need to watch out for anyhing when removing the abs ... Don't wanna get knocked out doing it :D Also i believe this will turn on the airbag light? And thanks Nick ! How much does your car weigh? Any other things i can take off... I am fine with a drivetrain , some pedals , a wheel , a seat and a chassis with tires lol! SO ABS , AC , PS , Gutted interior is allready on the list you guys pointed out the Airbags and obviously lighter wheels/tires and cf hood maybe even a trunk.. I am also going to move the battery to the trunk.. What else am i missing here? Is it even possible to get it close to 2000 ? Haven't seen anyone with less than 2300... Still seems SOO heavy compared to my friends EF's ... I mean it's still a honda/acura with fwd and same engine so where are they hiding the "rocks" in this car?

Also forgot im gonna remove the pass seat and get a light racing seat for me..

I've only ever driven one EF (a sedan at that) and that thing felt tiny compared to my car. I consider G3 Integras smal since I DD an 01 Oldsmobile. But when comparing weights of an EF hatch and a GSR, EF's only weigh 2100-2200, whereas even my RS (lightest model) weighs right under 2600, or so the title says. A GSR weighs almost 2700 I think.

Just keep going at what you're doing and hope for around 2300. Think of it as having a FWD Miata with a hardtop.

it's only illegal if a dealer or manufacture does it, it's legal for personal use. I posted the statute in a thread somewhere

I am in the high 2100's(Depending on how much fuel is in the car) with a roll bar, which is heavy as fuck. I will get you exact numbers mid this month. When removing the air bags make sure you have the battery unhooked. Yes, it will turn the SRS light on, so just take the bulb out of the cluster. I don't even have a CF hood and rarely do any of the track guys with insanely light cars. 400 dollars just isn't worth 15 lbs. Look in to a FAL rear window, that will net you good results as well.

I know people who have their cars in the 2000-2100 range with a roll cage, so yet it is possible. In fact you should check out donuts thread. He is the weight reduction master.

So assuming your roll bar is over 60 pounds you are pretty damn close to 2000! By the way the 88 EF a friend has is weighed in at under 1900 pounds! Another friend with 91 EF came out at about 1950 full interior and everything! ( spare and such taken out ) so I know i won't make it that light but if Nick got to 21XX with rollbar than im pretty sure i can make it to under 2100! So that will be my goal from now on...
As for gsr nikhil's question i stated that i was going on a diet with my car LOL! I weigh around 190 pounds and thinking about going down to about 165 ish.. Im kind of big so don't hate that i want my car skinny
And trust me 94SR i drive a dodge ram that is higher than a z71 chevy and heavier than both our integras combined but im just thinking technically to get a better performance out of my b16...

SO how many pounds do you think the FAL will reduce ?

Thats exactly what im thinking but with good gas mileage and VTEC :D Heard the miata's get about 20-25 on average that's bad considering the size of the motor and the weight of the car...
