My new calipers are rusting! Is this normal? What color should i paint them!

Upon changing my brake pads 2 weeks ago, i realized my front brake calipers were pretty much seized. I think this was caused by VERY dirty brake fluid.

I flushed almost 2 liters of dirty a** brake fluid from my system and replaced my brake calipers. The new brake calipers are apparently rusting now. The rusting makes me a bit uneasy. Should i take them off and remove all the rust and paint them? If so, what color should i paint them.

Common or not, rust is never good. Clean them up and paint them. As for color, do whatever you want. Also, make sure you don't paint over the rubber.

@ AussieI thought they might be, but im not sure. These technically aren't "OEM" because they aren't manufactured by Honda, but they are OEM replacement I bought at autozone.

@Ganyon, thanks for the suggestion, ill see what i can do. I live in an apartment complex so im going to have to figure out when and where i will be able to carry this out.

Its already rusting, i don't think there is any question whether its ferrous at this point.

OEM is aluminum? The hell did you get that idea from. OEM is cast iron which is why they are fairly heavy. They are just usually coated with other metals to prevent rust, such as zinc.

Yea that's why I asked, I never checked to see what they were made of. Just went downstairs, both front and rear are steel/iron. My Mazda has aluminum.

I always found that dumb about tegs, Most japanese bikes come with Nissin (I think that's it) brakes and they're all aluminum calipers but not tegs...

Do you remove the brake line to paint em? I was lazy just just taped over it and just rattled canned it so it wouldn't rust

Edit: don't flame...its just temporary until I get to the shop

The Integra calipers are also made by Nissin. I think one of the rear numbers is 134R or R134?
