okay my car only wants to do this when it gets to normal temp. but if i let it cool off its fine. the shop i just got it from today told me it was the air control valve. would this cause it or something else. i thought it would be a fuse or something in the computer going out or something electrical.

any ideas would be in great help.

Are you getting a Check Engine Light? Sounds like its in lump mode.
Perhaps the shop pulled the code and thats the error?

More information would be helpful..

Lump mode lol

Has your car overheated in the past?
Limp is usually a protective state the ECU goes in after overheating to protect the engine from damage.

okay yes it does have a cel and not exactly bogging down. it acts like it would if youd redline it at 6500 or however high your car would. it just wont go any higher like the rev limiter is limiting it at that point.

before when i went to get it from him last time it ran like crap adjusted rockers and it ran but then it wanted to bog down like 96ls said but he took tape and put it on the holes in the iacv and now its doing this like i said it runs fine and i can pretty much race it. (like normal) then when it gets to temp. it wants to do this. on the way home i had to baby it so much that it took me like 5 mins to get up to 60mph.

muck man i dont know anymore info then this i have a odbII control valve he said try that and see if itll work. you think it will or just a waste of time?

if it were your idle air control valve the idle would fluctuate up and down.

correct me if im wrong but it sounds like a TPS issue.

and just some good advice if your mechanic is trying to fix an Idle air control valve with tape, he probably shouldnt be your mechanic...just saying

lol lump mode.

Its really very simple.
Figure out CEL code and fix the problem.
Make the computer happy and it will let you rev past 6500.
