93 teg starting problem

hi, i have a 93 integra with a starting problem. sometimes it runs and sometimes it won't and it seams totally random. i replaced the main relay and the ignition control module. when its not working i don't have spark and the fuel pump does't turn on, when it is working it runs great and never dies but usually if i shut it off it won't start again. then if i come back to the car later and try turning the key a few times i'll finally hear the fuel pump turn on and it will fire right up and run till i shut it off again

any help with this would be great. i think its the computer but is there anything else that would keep me from getting spark and fuel at the same time, never one or the other. i hope someone can help me thanks

im not sure which fuse is the ignition fuse but ive checked all fuses under the dash and under the hood and all were good. today i was able to get it to fire up by playing with the new ignition control module i bought and when i took the cover off the computer i found a melted resister so i removed it and soldered in a new one from radio shack. still same problem though sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesnt. im guessing something else in the computer fried the resister and is cousing my mysterious problem

well the no spark could be your dizzy going out or your power and ground wire melting or shorting out going to the dizzy. the fuel pump not coming on could be fuel pump relay or pump going out. though im not to sure bout that.

Ya I got a new relay and I've checked my power and grounds going to and from the dizzy and the grounds going to the computer and the problem of no fuel and spark always happens together as though its connected some how. Im going to try a new computer as soon as I get paid unless I figure something else out that it might be before then

Looking for my next Teg..
a failing coil could cause intermittent issues... My experience with DA distributors is it usually is better to just replace the whole thing than tinker with coils and ICM inside... I spent 2 months dicking around with "new" but bad coils and stuff to never get a solution that worked as well as a new distributor.

your issue still sounds like a relay issue tho I'd pull and test the "New" one.

also do tests on the iterior components of that distributor to make sure they are within specs.

i will do that for sure. would a bad coil stop the fuel pump from turning on? this is my first honda/acura and im not familiar with how everything works just yet

didnt think bout that. tho ive never taken my dizzy apart. other than the cap to see where the point was for timing isusse im having as we speak. but im on the same boat with him. my first one tho ive done a ton of research before i bought it.

honestly I have taken them apart.. replaced internals, & tried time and again to keep a broken distributor going & have always had issues with replacement "OE Coils" being bad out the box...

My suggestion and opinion is just replace the whole damn thing... usually when you buy a new dizzy, it comes with a lifetime warranty anyways, so pony up $$$ nowand reduce headaches later :)
