Does an Acura with a "Honda Motorsports Corporation Made In Japan" sticker make that car a domestic or an import?

what?

Acura/Honda is an import as the company is based in Japan.
Exactly what I thought, but when I had my oil changed today, the guy there who was some crazy integra finatic who's owned "like 15 integras" pointed out that sticker in my engine bay and said good. "Made in Japan are the best ones." I looked at him weird than half smiled and said "yea, mock import." It made me think how people think Acura is domestic because Honda is sold in Japan, and Acura is Americas luxury version of Honda.

I have that sticker.

I always thought it ment they made it in japan, then shipped it over here...

Is this one of those things where they make toyotas in arkansas and fords in mexico?

Yea, exactly. Producing them in Japan and shipping them here for sale in the U.S would make them imports, not domestic cars. What I don't understand is that I think the mechanic was trying to imply that Integras are built in other countries than Japan?

Oh for fucks sakes:

Just because it says "Made in Japan" doesn't mean it was assembled in Japan. Most of the main parts are made in Japan and shipped to assembly plants, thus they will say made in Japan. What does your vin say? The vin will tell you where it was assembled. If you care. They are all made the same, regardless if it is in Japan or Canada or whichever assembly plant it was shipped to.

Well said.
You guys realize that Honda makes a point to have assembly plants in the countries the vehicles are sold in right? It's part of their philosophy of supporting the local economies that purchase their vehicles. At least, that's what they tell us in the training videos.
Many parts are made in Japan or other places then shipped to the assembly plants for each particular model. I.e Odysseys for the US market are assembled in Alabama but many components are made over seas.

So honda can get into nascar because they are domestically assembled? Lol

Made in is... made in. Does it matter where it was assembled, for that matter, 10% of my car is made in cerritos, ca because i assemble the parts together?

Lol. It doesnt matter if its made in japan and shipped here or assembled here. Honda has come to a point where they dont build in japan and send it here. They just build it here and build THEIR cars differently. I think he assumed it was an actual "jdm" car. And when I said jdm I say it for what it actually means. Im not some dumbass that thinks all hondas are JDM BRO..

ACTUAL japan made hondas are different then the american equivalent. Not always better, not always worse. Just different. They have different standards.

JDM literally means japan made only. Not made in japan and shipped somewhere else. It literally means made in japan, unless the OWNER ships its, it will die in japan
