Hey all! Name's Matt, just picked up my first Integra last week and I'm loving it! She's an all-stock 2001 LS I found near Cleveland with just over 83k miles on her. Previous owner threw in a new JVC radio and a 12" sub, but other than that she is all super-clean OEM stock.

All shined up, fresh from the wash

Love it!

She'll be my daily driver for the next couple years, but I'm planning on tossing on a new intake, header, exhaust, maybe some better brakes and suspension... make the morning commute a little more exciting, ya know? Any input is definitely welcome!

I do need some advice on a strange noise I'm getting while on the road... sounds like a grumbly hole in the exhaust/cat converter, but it's only when the car is rolling. Throttling up while parked doesn't produce the noise, but once I start clipping along at about 30mph it rears its ugly head and gets louder on up to the mid 70's. Even weirder is every time I turn the wheel left, even the slightest bit, the noise quiets down, but return the wheel to center and it comes back... turning right doesn't have the same effect. I looked up under the front wheel wells and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary like the tire rubbing on something, but that is what I'm thinking is going on somewheres... thoughts?

Looks like you got yourself a gem.

Turning the wheel will cause the rpms to flux so that will cause the exhaust flow to differentiate too. If you want to know if its got a exhaust leak, get under the car and look. Theres no test procedure for this, its a inspection.

Turning the wheel to the left and it quiets down means its the left wheel bearing either front or rear, you can probably figure our or by listening. Its an easy fix, just get a new hub assembly, doesn't have to be OEM (from the dealer)

Its a wheel bearing, does it come from the front or back wheel?
Definitely coming from the front driver side, and that was my suspicion :???: Easy enough fix, but definitely hoped it was an exhaust issue so I could justify headers + custom exhaust to the missus 8)

Thanks for the input everybody! Picking up a secondhand AEM intake tomorrow too, can't pass up this guy's price if it checks out;

stoked to actually get some grumble from something that's SUPPOSED to grumble

Drill bit will solve your exhaust problems.

Grumble is a weird description for the bearing but then again i havent heard the noise myself.

Awesome dude. Get a header and exhaust asap :) i reccomend a DC sports header, fuck anyone who hates on them for being "cheap".

Welcome and nice car. Describe the sound a little more. Is it growling or scraping?

XjoenX: Its a deep growling sound... it sounded "grumbly" and throaty so my first impression was that there was a hole or leak around the exhaust manifold, but it doesn't get louder/quieter with fluctuations in RPM even when just revving up in neutral... only makes the sound while rolling. That and the check engine light hasn't flipped on yet which makes me think its not exhaust related.

Its at the shop now for a second opinion, if he makes me a good offer on the work then I'll just have him do it since I don't have a press and would need him for that anyway

Swerve + Nemesis: I'm not above a DC header, I'll just throw on a skunk2 catback so I can have their brand credentials at 30% the cost of their headers

Thanks for all the input, awesome community here

Welcome and I'm jealous of the ls meshes :)

I would jack up the front end when u get a chance and mess with the wheel to me it sounds like a cv joint going bad. I've never heard anyone describe a baring going bad by a grumbling sound.

On the mods I would say start with suspension its better bang for ur buck. Or at least get the energy suspension master bushing kit. If I could go back I would've gone that route instead of my craptastic catback.
