i have a 2000 gsr and the previous owner swapped out the whole exhaust system i'm not sure what brand the piping and muffler are, but i know it has dc headers
i want to get a new exhaust that isn't so loud.
i like deep sounding exhaust' but i don't like when it screams when i'm just cruising down the street
any suggestions

tanabe hyper medallion is what i have. nice deep tone throughout the rpm range, doesnt get all raspy but then again i also have a skunk2 alpha series header too

Post pics of your exhaust. You probably need just an axle back if you want the deep tone without the screaming rasp when you floor it.

the guy probably put a test pipe on as well instead of keeping a cat on it, that will def make it a lot louder and raspier the greddy evo2 and DP are also good. if you want a good deep sound gonna have to spend the bucks on a proper exhaust

^ not true, dc sport exhaust sucks so does skunk2
he could just buy a universal muffler sense he has the tubuing, check out CI store for deals it all comes down to how much your willing to spend?

yeah true with dc and skunk2 but i dont think just a muffler will change how loud it is if its a full custom exhaust. i still recommend going with tanabe hyper medallion or touring medallion. they keep a good almost stock look and dont get real loud

I beg to differ. The skunk2 megapower sounds nice.

Its gonna help to state the specifications to your system because that all plays a part in how it sounds. However that can also be irrelevant if you fully intend to replace the system with a new one anyway. The tone is mostly controlled by the muffler and the piping including cat and resonators play a role in its end quality and decibel, albeit on a lesser scale.

I have stock piping with a Comptech axle-back. Love the sound. None if the rasp. Although I commonly get the urge to upgrade, I just can't find the a'pexi Dunk cat-back anywhere. Someone help me locate one please.

I'd like to hear a sound clip of your exhaust. you have stock piping? hmm

I'm kind of in the same boat. I'd love to upgrade my exhaust, but I can't really find any that I really like.
