I could live with 500-600. I don't need anything too high if i'm going to keep it halfway streetable. I just want something more than what I got and for a while I was driving my dad's friend's old Chevy II Nova which had 1022 hp 965 lbft torque to rear wheels. So to me, the teg seems kinda slow. But I wasn't the one who built the Nova, my dad's friend was. Anyway, on topic again, lol I would like some suggestions on parts seeing how i'm slowly inching my way closer to the engine build.500-600 is a much more reasonable goal, and very much attainable on pump gas alone
for 500hp your parts list becomes alot more sensible now...
Wiseco pistons 9.0:1 (or 9.1:1 comp) which come with the piston rings and wrist pins
piston choice is purely preference, wiseco and cp are typically 2618 forged aluminum, which will require a piston to wall clearance about .0040 to .0050, where as piston manufacturers like supertech use 4031 low expansion forged aluminum alloys which require less piston to wall clearance.
Eagle ESP H-Beam Forged Rods for B18A1/B1
eagle H beams are good for up to 600hp on paper, but I tend to feel alot safer using a name brand like manley for rods. I dont even trust my crower H beams up to 500hp to be honest, just because i know the core product is made overseas in china or taiwan
Darton M.I.D. Wet sleeves
MID sleeves are not a requirement, you could just as easily run something like LA sleeves which are open deck
Micropolished and balanced stock crank
stock crank is internally balanced, and will rarely need to be balanced again, chamfering the oil holes on the rod journals is a much more effective investment
BC Stage 2 Cams (boost spec obviously)
GSC makes a much better turbo profile cam, consult muckman on this
750-1100 CC injectors (Still researching)
your going to want something in the 1000-1500cc range, injector dymanics or fuel injector clinic will do the job nicely, stay away from GRAM's and RC injectors.
Blox Intake manifold and throttlebody (68mm)
no complaints here but manifold tuning for where you want your power band, will be critical, runner length and plenum volume is to be considered here
AEM COP kit
ACL Bearings
ARP Bolts/Studs all around
OEM Thermostat
Mishimoto Fan Switch
Mishimoto Z-Line Intercooler
Greddy 05H-18G turbo
Hondata S300
the rest is all relative to your preference, turbo sizing, GTX32 or GTX35 equivalent would be I think the appropriate choice for a turbo.
Oh, trust me, I kno. i can only get a max of 14 psi out of it from what the factory could tell me about it. So i'm not expecting to make over 400 hp right away. I know for a fact later on that I will need a bigger turbo to make my target hp but right now that turbo will have to do. Once I save up I was thinking about getting a Garrett of some sort but not sure what yet, still got some other factors to add in.Well your welcome to see how hard you can push the greddy turbo but i dont know that its going to make anything over 400hp.
I wouldn't be going for bragging rights one bit, and from stated before I was used to a supercharged Chevy II Nova which pumped out over 1000 hp. I'm not used to building hondas too much but if you take a look back a bit in the threads and all the advice people had been giving me, I have decided on 500-600hp. As for being towable to the tracks, that will be impossible due to me not having a truck or trailer and I wanna be able to run 93 octane pump gas anyway. So there's been tweaks to my plan so far, but before I buy parts im still looking for more info on what a good solid but powerful build would consist of.I don't log in enough to properly keep up with this discussion- so I will throw some food for thought out there as far as the goals go.
What experience do you have with high horsepower cars? A stock Integra goes anywhere from 110-160whp. 300hp is a whole new beast- which is probably faster than you think for somebody used to mildly built cars. You shouldn't set an 800hp goal if you've never even seen 300hp. 800hp isn't very streetable at the least. Not only running race fuel to get that number you also have to imagine it will be quite a bit of power for the roads. If you're building a car specifically to be towed to the track it's not a big deal.
Are you going for bragging rights here, or do you actually have a plan in mind? 600hp seems like a good number, but it may be way overkill for the average Honda owner.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to steer you away. You may be the first one asking about it that has prior knowledge on the topic. It's not often you see people who join saying they want 1000hp- who's done research.
