Hello new to the forum, just recently got a 89 Integra LS and The CEL light is on and i am throwing 9 blinks which i heard is a CYP sensor, i have 3 questions for you guys, so here we go

1. What type of MPG do you get? i get horrible horrible filled the tank on friday and set the trip odo, says i have traveled 150 miles and i am on e. I do not drive it hard at all shift at 3500-3600 RPMs and still get poop gas mileage.

2. I need to fix this sensor,9 blinks on computer, told it was the 1st camshaft positioning sensor or CYP sensor, and i have no knowledge of how to do such if any of you have any knowledge on this please help, this might be contributing to my horrible MPG.

3. any mods or fun stuff to do? Anything performance wise to do to D16A1??? whats some fun cheap or mildly cheap things to do. Basketball season is over and i have time on my hands lol

Thanks for your help! Happy to have joined the forums!

You should be getting about 35mpg highway. And I dont remember our G1's having camshaft sensors.

Check your timing belt and make sure your cam gears arent a tooth off, Check your air filter and fuel filter, check your timing, and I would say check your egr but we dont have one. Other then that, just do a tune up

Mod wise it will be hard but is possible. Our block and head are the same as the f1 racer at the time, obviously ours are really lame in comparison. A simple thing you can do is find zc cams and put them in and gain about 25 hp. You could do a whole zc internals swap and gain maybe 35 but both are hard to find

awesome thanks!! ill look into the timing and as for air filter its clean but ill check the fuel and i think maybe the crankshaft? idk i ordered it so if its not right i just will replace it anyways haha!
And for the ZC ill try finding some cams, is it possible to fit a b18c1 in their or which would be the smarter choice for a bigger engine and vtech??

Crankshaft is bad? Really? Be better off just dropping a new engine in if your crankshaft is bad. You should take it in to a shop and have them check the code so you know whats wrong.

You CAN fit a b18 inside but its almost not worth it. You will lose ac and power steering and have to make custom mounts, custom shift linkage, and lose some firewall safety. Best and easiest swap is a b16y8. Fits a lot easier and has vtech but good luck finding one worth a damn that isnt an automatic

Our G1's really arent for modifying. If you want soemthing to modify get a 2g or 3g. G1's are more for daily drivers unless you have a lot of classic honda resourcing

i looked it up and i may just need a new distributor since its the crankshaft sensor or something like that but ill take it to a shop and see what they say.

G1s dont have a crankshaft sensor. bring to someone with a scanner so they can tell you whats actually wrong. I dont think you understand that there isnt any info about our cars online really. Only real infi your going to find is in manuals and stuff. I looked in my mine for anything close to a cam sensor and there wasn't anything

they have what the factory called a "cylinder (cyl) sensor". It's driven off the front camshaft right above the ECT. The computer uses it on some of the G1's that had them to figure out when it's TDC on #1

Edit: It was also called a TDC sensor i believe
