ABS no power?

Ok, so we went to check the code for the ABS on my 90 4dr GS....there seems to be no power to the abs control box. Where is the fuse located? I don't have an owners manual, and the under the hood fuse box cover doesn't tell me whats what.

Are you sure? Sometimes i have to put the paper clip at sone weird angle to get a code

paper clip?? I thought you just had to put the key in the ON position and have someone read how many times it blinks...I have a 90 4dr GS...

could be a failed ABS controller. I have heard of them crapping out. ABS systems are a b1tch to troubleshoot on these cars lol

yea ABS in our cars is notoriously erratic...

short list of things to look at...

ABS sensors - you have to pull the wheels off and look for the little black things that hover above the ABS ring ion the hub... be careful so you don't break it while cleaning.

ABS axles make sure you have ABS CV axles... they should have a notched out ring around where the rotor attaches to the hub (right behind the rotor) . these enable the sensor to read through a pulse signal.

as mentioned before the controller may have issues...

and lastly it could be the ABS master (the reservoir on passenger side) is failing out.. indication of this is that you notice you lose brake fluid from the master cylinder and the ABS reservoir is overflowing.

any way you look at it it is a PITA to troubleshoot on these cars, however; deleting it reduces the overall safety of the vehicle & IMO should only be done in extreme cases

Not so much extreme cases, but any case that a major component of the ABS system is bad. The system is so expensive to repair(pump, accumulator, etc) that it's not worth the cost.
Reduces overall safety? So you're saying all RS and LS models are unsafe? They never came with ABS. Just saying.

no more to the point of the GS model.. it is just as much a PITA to do an ABS delete as you have to fabricate part of the brake lines swap out the ABS master for a prop valve...

it is not as cut and dry as pull the ABS master and slap a prop valve in. for someone not familiar with fabricating said lines this can get tricky & has the potential create an unsafe vehicle is what I am getting at. Being this car is also a DD type car the benefits of maintaining the ABS system and overall street safety outweigh the lesser cost of canning the ABS system.

it could be argued back and forth what is better but in the end scientific and test data shows that for normal driving situations ABS is better than non ABS... especially in the SF bay area where idiot drivers are a plenty... it is a safety feature I would not recommend the OP getting rid of unless absolutely necessary

I know what is involved in an ABS delete. I also know that Alan on G2IC sells a bolt in kit for those who can't pull it off on their own.
The cost for the ABS delete is around $200-250, the cost for an accumulator or pump is somewhere around $1500-2000a piece, depending where you buy from. Hence why I would just delete the non working ABS rather than spend 80% of the worth of the car on said parts. Just my opinion.

Haven't seen anyone post one of those kits in awhile... last anyone said anything about doing a delete Colin posted up on how to do it.

Last I talked to Alan he would make the lines and piece it all together after people committed to the order and paid him. It's been a bit since I talked to him though.
I just can't justify spending $2k in parts on a car that's only worth $2500 on a good day.
