its 2 10mm bolts for the thermostat housing. check if your cooling fan is coming on too when the car is up to temperature. 4 out the 7 DAs ive owned i had to rewire my cooling fan.

older tegs can develop cooling issues especially in warmer weather... I went through my entire cooling system after first buying mine.

Check the Radiator... if it is OEM it is possible previous owners ahve run alot of "stop leak" through it... look for crusty buildup near the top & also look for lots of "Green" colored oxidization on the fins... if you see any of this replace the radiator.

As others have mentioned replace the thermostat. make sure it is in the correct direction :)

Inspect and replace the radiator cap... if the rubber seal is mashed or bloated looking it will impede flow to the coolant resevoir this can lead to overheating...

Ensure the cooling system has no air trapped in it... bring car to operating temps with heater valve open ( turned to hot) allow to run with radiator cap off and keep filling the radiator while you slowly increase and decrease throttle.. ( this will help burp air out of the system) alternatively you can use the bleeded fitting on the head too. I prefer being able to see down into the radiator and being able to squeeze the hoses to help burp air that way... Just be careful!!! you can burn yourself easily...

Verify both condenser and cooling fans kick on when the car is getting up to operational temps... sometimes one may kick on but not the other indicating a bad relay or ECT switch When the car is hot both should be running.

inspect the car for ANY coolant leaks. They will leave a white residue where coolant has leaked and dried.

ok, so she was just overheating bits at a time which led Charline to believe its just the cap. The cap did indeed have a crack! She also checked the system out as suggested and hopefully all is good now....

Ok, so we changed the thermostat and gasket today. STILL overheating. In fact, the lower radiator hose would not get hot like the upper radiator hose did. Shall I change out the radiator???

What is a "pressure test"?

Damn, I've been following this thread and its crazy that you've replaced almost all cooling parts and it still over heats. Best of luck to you...waiting on results!

Thank you.

I really like this Integra and I am REALLY hoping and praying its not a head gasket issue. Its NOT leaking...nice and dry....

Did you bleed the air out of the system?

You should probably pressure test the system.
From what I have read on the pressure test, this is done if the temp is hot on the freeway. It only gets hot when idling, not when driving...??

Also, the lower radiator hose does not get hot like the top radiator hose does....

We think it may be a faulty thermostat from autozone. We will replace it once again Weds.

We've decided since we need to take out the thermostat anyway, we will test it in boiling water to see if it opens or not. Afterthought: we should have done that FIRST.
