Figured I would start my snail of a build thread since some things have changed since I bought the car.

May 2012
1995 GS-R 4 door.
Bought @ 208K miles. Full timing belt/water pump service was done before I drove it out of the lady's driveway. I'm the second owner. No oil leaks, little bit of valve tick.

July 2012

Had the valves serviced at a local Honda shop. They took the valve cover off and showed me that the cams still had the factory black coating on them (even after 208K?! WTF??)

I finally got sick of the car being hella stock, so I invested in some garbage ebay sleeves and a second set of used shocks. Let me just say, that I learned my lesson. After about a month, it was a trampoline.

September 2012

After tons of research, I ordered my function and form's and ebay camber kit. I daily drive the car, I have only autox'ed it a couple of times just for fun.

Also got a killer deal on some enkei's. Tell me what you guys think about these, they are 17's, but I bought some nexxen 205/40/17's for them. I don't think they look too bad. Might go to a 16 if I see a good deal. Also got a mugen front lip.

Alignment time!

I did have to roll the fenders a bit to get the enkei's to fit. They are +35mm offset wheels. But I didn't want to run -4 degrees of camber. So a friend and I rented a fender roller and did them both in one night.

Found some honda cancer in the driver's side rear fender. Need to remove this soon. Will post up pics of what I did to get rid of it. Any suggestions are helpful.

This is where she sits right now. Pretty happy with the results.

My 94 ls still has the coating on the cams too. Got 172k on mine.

Looks great. How do the type 1's feel? I want to get koni yellows with tein lowering springs but its just too much cash to dish out right now. Been thinking of getting the ff's.

Type 1's feel great. Like I said, they're not crazy stiff, so driving over bumpy roads feels like stock. Not a whole lot of body roll.

I've seen lots of people will say that people like me are fanboy's of f&f's because I've never had a $1500 set of coils, which is probably true. But for what I use the car for, they're perfect.

that red dc2 in the pics is on koni's with tein s-tech springs. It handles like a go-kart (also because he has full blox control arms, upgraded sway bars, and -3 deg of camber f/r), but when you're daily driving his car, it's pretty a pretty rough ride.

Nice man! Very clean and stock DB8's are hard to come by these days! Looking forward to future build!

Some questions for you guys:

I haven't ever really taken any crazy fast hard corners with my setup. Currently I just have F&F type 1's and an ebay camber kit. My alignment is dead on. 0 degrees of toe F/R, -1.8 camber front and -2.0 camber rear. My car has about 4 inches from the sideskirts to the ground. I have finally got my fenders to the point where I don't usually rub.

When I take an onramp onto the freeway at 65-75mph, I get a really weird body roll. Like not from side-to-side, but like the rear end of the car feels like it's standing up a bit? My friend's DC2 is on Koni's and tein springs, and it doesn't do this, it feels like a go-cart. All he has is a rear subframe brace. Is that going to fix my problem? Or is it simply because I have a 4-door? :/

Also, stay tuned this spring for body work and paint! motor is still running strong!

Well stop flying around corners and it'll stop! LOL! Nah, it's most likely because the 4 doors weigh a bit more than the 2 doors. Get a ITR swaybar with good endlinks and then it will be tighter. A subframe brace might help as well, but the beefer swaybar will do the trick. I got one on my DB and I got no problems!

Well! Sometimes you just gotta fly! Lol. Thanks man I will be looking into getting one. I am assuming the stock gsr sway bar just doesn't cut it for my setup.

I feel like your lift problem is the body flexing from hard cornering with the front and the rears just following. They don't provide much grip.

Db's are like 100 pounds more than a coupe. You cannot account it to that.

I have the 17mm rear sway on my coupe and it doesn't budge. Rears hold strong. Also think about investing is a strut tower bar. Won't do a whole lot but it will help.
