Saving up for summer

Hey guys whats up?

New to the forum so I just figured I'd say whats up. Currently I am working full time to save up to get a gsr in may because by them I will have $4500-$5500 saved up and I am hoping to find a stock 94-01 with under or around 100k. I've been working hard full time and saving each check (without even cashing it so I can't spend it) to be able to have that much by then. I already have $1150 saved up but I have to pay $1400 to get my license back which I will have in less than a week. I use to have a 97 ek hatch with stock d16y7 w/ full 3" exhaust rh back/CAI/short throw and dropped 1.5". I've been researching on here and teamintegra.net and a few other Honda forums and this is the set up and prices I have found that i would like to do by e-town honda day. Im a good driver however I have never drove on an official 1/4 or any drag strip. I would like to be mid to high 14s. I was wondering your guys opinions on if this would be a good start for a quick DD./once in a while 1/4 drag car and be able to reach those numbers?

No fucks given.
A lot of people on here will tell you to stay away from Skunk2 products.

You can make your own icebox for the time being.

Alfa Otto gauge faces? EL glow gauges SUCK. I have them in the ZX2 I drive (previous owner put them in) and they hurt my eyes like hell at night.

Ohh well from what I read on here and other places I heard skunk2 was pretty good in the same category as greddy. But I only say that skunk2 exhaust because I like the sound of it, the clean, low, throaty sound without any raspy-ness. What about greddy ti-c? Would that be similar, but better? And I say the other skunk2 parts because I also heard its best to try and keep the same brands together. (mainly the exhaust/header/test pipe) I don't know if there's any truth behind that or not lol. And the gauges I'm not set on I just want something a little more lit up and up to date looking than stock with either blue or white and red if you get what I'm saying and those were the first few I found that looked similar but not cheap looking to what I'm looking for. And thank you for answering me.

As far as the gauges go, one of the really popular mods on here is to swap out the stock amber/orangeish bulbs with colored LEDs of your choice. MUCH cheaper than the gauge face swap and keeps the stock look while giving you the custom look.

Write up for that: http://www.clubintegra.com/board/showthread.php?t=56586

Idk about keeping brands together, but a lot of people are starting to use the Yonaka catback due to it being fairly cheap and having decent sound.

This probably won't happen to all their products, but around here they're known as Junk2

Buddy Club Spec3 exhaust! It goes together easy and looks like it belongs there....sorta. Not as much of a folgers can full of bees. If you wanna drop the coin, which it seems like you do.

Skunk2 header is a pretty good product as far as I can tell. I haven't personally had any issues with it.

The DIY icebox is a clean as f*ck look. Again, I use it no problem, and if you get in a pinch and run over your air filter you can go to any auto parts store and get the oem replacement filter.

B&M shifter is a good product, have it on my gs-r. I'm a little worried about the rubber washer/gasket looking things, but I'm selling it off, so I don't really care.

As far as suspension goes, just don't cheap out and do the coil spring/stock strut deal. It blows. I got first hand experience and so does my gsr's exhaust.

Best of luck. Your 5k budget is pretty realistic. Finding a nice teg shouldn't be hard.

There's nothing wrong with skunk2 performance parts. However, stay away from their suspension parts.

I have a Skunk2 suspension and its absolutely terrible. I have heard good things about there Intake Manifold and mixed reveiws on their exhaust and throttle body. Also, my DC Sports Header was very inexpensive and works well with a great sound and hasnt failed me yet. Then you could use that money you saved for some Form & Function coilovers rather then just sleeves (around 500$).

QFT!

Have quite a few performance goodies from them on my current car with no issues. But bought full coil overs brand new for my DA years ago & they were such garbage. Took them off within a month & sold them later for a loss. I wasn't making much money back then but it was so bad I saved up AGAIN just to get rid of them.. Selling them helped recoup some funds, but never again.

Fuck junk2. They make a few good parts, but I won't buy them. A stock as fuck Gsr will at least dip14s with a good driver. I did 14.81 with intake and junk2 struts and springs.
If mid 14s is what you want, just buy a good Gsr and do all the bolt ons, mid level coilovers, and work on your launch/60' times

I remember when Skunk2 was the S**T, when they were based in Hayward, CA then moved to SOCAL.....
