Ive had some really bad trouble with cars but not like this. a few weeks ago we filled up with gas and up until we filled up with gas, the car ran and drove. It stopped running, we got it to run but it would just start up and die. We have tried everything. We have replaced the fuel injectors, fuel filter, weve cleaned out the catalytic converter, theres no muffler on it. now it will start and run, it doesnt leak gas anymore, when you try to drive it it will go as far as backing out of the drive way and die, it wont start right away, and yesterday trying to get it started after replacing the fuel injectors it blew white smoke out of the air filter. I need my car fixed. Im about to check the spark plugs, and distributor cap and rotor. but i dont think that will fix the issue.

Use the bolt on your fuel filter to check and see if your fuel pump is working. I'm thinking your fuel pump is on its way out. Just loosen that bolt and check the fuel pressure.

hahahahaha you have to put a pressure gauge in there lol glad that didn't cause a huge fire

Lol holy shit what a mess!
1 the engine wouldn't start without fuel pressure anyways.
2 you don't need the engine running to cause a fuel fire.
Ever heard of a spark? The ignition was on.

Check the main relay behind the fuse box. G1's have a tendency to go through main relays every 150-200k miles. If it checks out fine, check the spark plugs and wires, alternator, and maybe even your fuel pump wiring.

And dont listen to anyone if they tell you your fuel pump or your starter is going out. If it ever starts, then it cant be either one of those. People dont realize they are just 12v motor basically. They will either work or not at all. they will not work sometimes

This guy has a point! I replaced my whole fuel system on my 87 over a damn relay switch I didn't know about. Fuel pump relay went out, behind the clutch in that dark corner where the dead bugs are you smell but can't see. Good luck!
