Wont matter what kind. Get one thats a decent brand/quality thats the right size for your cat. If you have no cat get one thats appropriate for your piping size. Sure a 4-2-1 is a great choice. If you cant afford a few hundred bucks then ebay if you want to be cheap but i wouldnt. Shop the site store or hit up JDMxdb8 after the holiday for a price.

If you live in Cali, just make sure the header is CARB legal...
I think I am going with the 421 DC sports headers with my stock Cat to a Yonoka Exhaust ?

I've always been told that the itr header (4-1 design) is the best header. Unless ppl are just biased toward oem. But as long as the piping is bigger than 2.36(roughly) inches, ur gunna be fine

The Kev

Vtec? I have V-TAK! Son..
"DUMB" question....What is exactly is the ITR header? Is it Mugen design or something else?

Its not the best but its very good for the price when you find em low, can have heat shields to cover so it looks oem and fit great with ground clearance but wont work unless he has a larger than stock cat or test pipe. Its a 2.5" header.

Ok so I have the Yonoka exhaust, with a stock CAT what would you guys recommend? For headers that are 4-2-1 I just want it to fit, without the hassle I drive a 96 LS

Honestly, you have a lot of options. First off if u want a cat go ahead and get a high flow cat. Mahnaflow is pretty good and not more than 75 at advance auto. Then, depending on how long ur header is, get a flex pipe welded between the header and cat. The shop can custom fit it for u. I'm going thru that process now and the shop quoted me roughly 80 to get everything welded. Or u can get a test pipe and everything should just bolt on

I recommend doing nothing. Most of the current options are shit and for your setup you wont gain much if anything at all with those options. If you must get something it should be a dc header, edelbrock (goodluck finding one), comptech (also rare but out there). Yonaka also makes a header but i dont know if its the large collector or small collector.
