Dual exhaust question. Turbo b18c1

So I am gearing up to start a new project and came across an idea which I need feedback on.
Using a b18c1 gsr block, all forged internals ect. With a peakboost turbo setup t3/t4 goal is 300+ whp.
Instead of using a traditional single 2.5" or 3" pipe for exhaust i was wondering if I would get roughly the same amount of performance running dual exhaust from the downpipe to the rear but only using 1.5" or even 1" piping (all custom of course). Would this be insufficient for backpressure? Has anyone ever done this? And would it make a more high pitch sound rather than a deep fart cannon? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks CI

Short answer, No.

The area of a single 1.5" diameter circle is 1.766 in2. *2 for dual = 3.532 in2
The area of a single 3" diameter circle is 7.065 in2
And thats OD. The area of pipe ID will be less depending on wall thickness.

Ironic isnt it?

Wouldn't it sound like a moped with 1-1.5" exhaust? I thought the wider the diameter the deeper the sound? Of course there would be other things to factor in for sound like resonators and cats.

Generally yes but theres so many factors like like you said. Even wall thickness and material makes a difference. The biggest factor is a turbine will quiet it way down.

thanks for the info guys, was just a theory of mine, my next question is what could I do to the exhaust (or what brand name) could i use to achieve a higher pitch sound. higher pitch as in higher than a traditional 3" pipe kit from say flowmaster or magnaflow. not that either of those brands dont sound good.

My suggestion would be to go onto YouTube and just listen to a bunch of boosted tegs until you find which one appeals to you the most. You can't say by brand name how its going to sound. A Muckman stated a lot of things determine sound (material, diameter, catalytic converter, resonator etc.)

I think aluminum exhausts sound more high pitched. Running without resonator or muffler will keep it high pitched also. Obviously I wouldnt recommend that unless you had a turbo in the way.

96LSteg - Inconel or titanium is used on race cars. But I was speaking about aluminum mostly.

I read alot on car forums. Ive been in the game for over a decade and Ive spent alot of money learning the hard way. Plus Im friends with people who are way smarter that I sponge off.

Thanks again for feedback guys. Really appreciate it. I guess I did ask a bit of a newbie question lol I know alot of factors go into how an exhaust sounds, even the angle of a single bend can change its pitch. Youtube idea sounds valid for my search. Happy holidays everyone, cheers :)
