Why are RC cars so expensive? I was thinking about getting one cause i'm always bored. I figured you could get a decent quality good brand one for like 150-200$. Shttt they all 300+ I need car parts more than I want an rc car... Lol

Yeah seriously. Anyone remember Xmods from Radioshack? I still have the Scion TC and my NSX from back in like '05. If I remember right, you could get the starter kit for like $60 then buy the upgrades separate.

I remember I met some guys that came over to my work because we have such a huge parking lot, with a long straight also.. Learned a ton from them, but it's just too expensive to get into RC cars. Best way to get into it is to find a broken or damaged one on Craigslist, fix it and flip it. Or keep it.
One of them had the Traxxas XO-1 that he bought after winning some coin in Vegas, and he bought his with everything for $1k to $1.4k, and this thing was a monster. All electric, 0-100 mph in mere seconds, 1/7th scale also, it was b****in.
When he first got it, he said there was a bunch of warning stickers when you open it because there's a high risk of death, or break your ankle.
One of these guy's gfs were leaving in a slammed Jetta, and they couldn't see behind them, so they ran over the XO-1. Only thing that broke was a bearing!

Tried to smog my car yesterday, passed emissions, but failed visual because I have a "motor swap from an SUV". I have a B18B1 with a B20 valve cover, but I plugged the PCV valve on the top with a plug, because I have nothing for that hose to connect to on my intake manifold.. So it failed the visual, but it passed emissions.
Tech tells me to fix the air canister, because the hose ripped in half, but he crimped that anyways, and to put the stock valve cover on it. Got both of those done last night.
Go back today, he tells me it'll pass. Nope. Failed hard today, 10x worse than the previous measurements he recorded. And he said the timing went from 16 to 17. Wtf?
Last time I smogged it 1 year and a half ago, it passed with flying colors. Since then I've changed the header and exhaust system. But the tech said that those were okay, unless something was wrong with my cat, but the cat passed, so that's not it, and he told me the header is okay. He said if I have the stock intake that might pass because it may be getting too much airflow to the engine, but I've had the intake on the car for as long as I've had it.
Any ideas? Recorded measurements below:
First test:
15 mph - RPM=1849 - %CO2=14.9 - %O2=0.1 - HC(ppm)=MAX,90/AVE,41/MEAS,62 -
