Hi.

I have a well maintained stock integra. Then the oil started disappearing. I got some valve work done and all was well for 6 months. Then huge clouds of smoke billow out when cold started. I just don't want it to be the rings. It's my spare car now. Fully stock. Green. Is possibly a good project car. They are super rare. The mechanics couldn't really tell me if it was rings or not and tried to get me to spend lots of money. I bought a different car but I love my car....Any ideas?

Why did you have the valve work done? Could be just a valve seal. I would do a compression test and see what cylinder is down. I would pull the head and inspect the valves. Do a leak down test too. If it's using and burning oil the engine is gonna have to come apart regardless. Find a new B18C1 to drop in it. I think you can pick one up for $1750 or so with 60K miles on it. A proper rebuild of the current engine will run you a bit more but you have the advantage of starting at zero miles again getting perfect gas mileage and having lots of fresh power.
If you love it and it's in nice shape. Keep it. I love them, I own two!

Don't tell new members to get out of here for spelling Vtec wrong...
Actually that wasn't a literal "get out of here" statement, it was the "that's ridiculous" statement, you know the one.... I see the title has been edited also.
