I have B20b with a b16 tranny... my syncros in third r starting to go I think... im changing to some gm syncromesh this weekend first to see...

If not, what trannies could I just straight swap to with no problems??? Im guessing I could use a b18a1 or a2 with no problem..

What about a ys1 tranny? Any gsr trannies a straight swap?

All b series will bolt on. 90-91 have a small spline clutch. Get any bseries tranny 92+ (cable if yours is cable, hydro if its hydro) and it will work

So they made the trannies is both cable and hydro for all models? What year gsr tranny would u suggest?

I think I saw another b16 tranny with an ls 5th for like $750 on CL...

if im gunna pull the tranny im gunna change my whole clutch setup. I think my flywheel is out of round a little cuz I get a little shudder in nuetral and goes away with clutch in, but comes back when driving in gear or my throwout bearing is going.... I can hear it still in first sometimes if its quiet outside. It grinds 2, 3, 4 sometimes, but usually only 3rd when pushing the car.

that shutter sound that appears and then disappears when you press the clutch is the main shaft bearing (i think thats what its called)...I have that same problem...

It is called the Throwout bearing actually. It is located on that fork. It presses on the pressure plate. They tend to go out fairly quickly, but is a fairly cheap part. However it is a pain to replace because you have to remove the tranny to change it.

Why not just rebuild the tranny takes 30 minutes

Maybe if you have tons of mechanic experience, a lift, impact tools and 2 other people helping you. Taking the tranny off alone takes over an hour. Took me and my dad total 6 hours to change my clutch.

The b16 tranny has too short of gearing for a b20 anyways. I had one in my 91 hatch with an ls motor. It was trash. GSR tranny

Its a honduh

Oh well i can pull the motor in 2 or less hours easily its easier to pull the motor rather then just drop the tranny imo
