engine rebuild

i just ordered a rebuild kit from partstrain.com and hope to get it some time this week. I started cleaning parts, honed cylinders, measured flatness of block, polished crank, resized rods. any other machining i should do? I still need to check valves and valve seats and possibly replace them.

Have i missed anything?

also, is a b18b1 head better than a b181 head on a b18a1 block?

f/i possibly in the near future

need suggestions,recomendations, and opinions welcome.

you should bore the block at least .25mm over if you havent already, i would resurface the head, clean intake and exhaust ports, and then on top of that just reseat the valves and just change the valve stem seals.

i have the same question. i have a b18b1 block and a b18a1 head . would it make more power/ torque than the b18b1 head?

yes, i think the difference is in the head but the difference is like 1 or two hp

yea i havent done any work to the head yet but plan to resurface it if it is warped, and put new valve seats,. the block is withing spec but should i resurface anyway? i wanted to overbore the block but decided not to because i didnt wanna raise compression being that i am going to try n get a turbo set-up within a few months.( probably would have been better though)

I should be recieving rebuild kit tomorrow. what kind of assembly stuff will i need? blue and red loctite assembly lube.

also planning on painting water pump,oil pump, oil pan silver. how do i go about prepping for paint?

i used assembally lube and loctite.

But you should always bore and resurface everything. Your compression in an ls is not going to go up nearly enough when you bore it out .25mm over...you get more with flat faced valves. I would bore it, and resurface everything else, i mean why not?

I resurfaced block installed crank and pistons.
is honda bond worth the cash?

I need help deciding what kind of turbo to get.
should i buy a new or used one? im trying to get 250 whp daily driver and will drive a lot of miles .

any of you have turbo setups with numbers? i need help here i dont know nothing about the trims and different turbos.

will i need to change timing, flashed ecu, i wanna tune myself on chrome?

help me out here, i greatly appreciate it.

would rebuilding a junkyard turbo be reliable? i was looking at an eclipse turbo(dsm, i guess) tdo5h. would rebuilding it make it reliable?

also do you think i can reach 250whp with stock motor and injectors?

I am on a budget, do you think it's a good idea? or just keep saving, ill be satisfied with 250whp.

your input is greatly appreciated
