That is wonderful. Then, every year they change it around slightly, label it a new edition and force it as a requirement. That way they aren't worth shat on the used market and have to be bought new.

Haha exactly! See, I am glad I am not alone in this :p I had a chem class one time and all they did was change the cover and said the old edition will not be allowed in class.. Mind you, the book was a must have for labs. Evil bastards

Been there, done that. I've seen it quite a few times. I'd even have them require the book then we wouldn't even use it, or maybe reference it once. $300 for a book that you reference once so he can collect his revenue for another title sale.

They do, it's a scam. I kept most of my books though........I got a f'n library from all that stuff lol. To me there wasn't any point in selling it if the information in the text is worth more than it's weight in paper. just got rid of the basic BS and kept the stuff that is actually educational.

Well what i do is wait at least a week after class has started to see if its worth it. Then I consult chegg to see if I can rent it...if all else fails ill trade my toe for a book at the schools bookstore
I wait till after the first day of class, I got to a small community college so the teachers get pissed at you if you don't have the book but a lot of teachers say you don't need it (obviously not all of them though). And I use ebay and valorebooks. I resell them on ebay and usually am not out too much money in the long run so I guess I can't complain.

I buy my books on amazon for cheap, then sell them back to school at the end of the quarter for profit.
