I have a 89 teg d16a1 with 222xxx. this is my first teg or honda for that matter. Was wanting some tips on what i can all do to it. Done some dress up stuff nothing major. Is there any cheap upgrades i can do for now? Maybe a futur engine swap? Also is there anyway to keep it from bottoming out. I bought new struts witch are an shock only. Is there anyway to convert to spring strut?

sorry man. Biggest draw back to having a first gen teg is the limitations. Front end suspension I beleive can only be the otrsion bars. Someone might know a way to convert but I dont know how. Ive also been told the b16 swap is fairly simple as far as engine swaps go. But anything is possible with this car cause there is so much room, but no matter what it will be a chore cause of the engine mounts.

Simple mods though, I personally happened to find zc cams and valves which go right in without anyything. Only adds like 5 hp but now has the forward pressure the engine needs for the high end torque and can then be turbo charged(Not in yourcase.. too many miles in my opinion, dont chance it)

But just stick with the basics. Y exhaust to duel 2'' outlet, Cold air intake, high pressure torsion bars to hold the front down, staged clutch, heat wrapped header, the basics

i straight piped the car to a perfomance muffler didnt think i had the room for duals. Would port and polishing make a difference if i did the head and intake? Thanks for the advice.

Anything will help, Just have to keep in mind that no matter what its going to be a losing battle with a 25 year old 115hp when new engine. Your d series if your really lucky is pushing 100hp right now. Engines are going to lose power over time no matter what, and with yours having such high miles and everything its not gunna do much.

All reality the d16 really cant push much in the first place because of the cams valves and exhaust system. My advise if you cant do a swap is to get zc cams and valves which are cheap and then a high flow header and get it heat wrapped. But starting with a swapped engine will give you a lot better starting position.

My plan is to just save up till mine goes out(182k, wont be for awhile) and just do a b18c swap. By then Ill have enough money to pay a shop to do it, be able to bore, chip and tune, internals, and suspension if everything goes well and no surprises.

Well that sounds the best option. Think ill follow suit and wait till this motor gives up. What year did a b18 cum in?
