Well this is a little late, and not everything is documented as far as pics go, but I will do my best to get everything posted. Sorry it isn't as thorough as it could be. My future posts will be documented a lot better.

Here are a few pics of the car when I first got it, She was really raw and molested:

As you can see, the car had a funky stance, and a very ghetto rigged engine bay.

Here she is after I had her for a few months:

I tried fixing a lot of the mechanical issues, and changing all the basic maintenance stuff that got neglected, but that only lasted so long. So then it was time to focus on the mechanical issues up close and personal, and trust me, there was a lot, the previous owner just about ruined everything he touched. The more I dug, the more I found was wrong

Pics of the tear down:

My garage during the build:

I forgot to leave out the milk and cookie!

Well I got my head back from the head specialist:

Isn't she purdy

Got the block back as well from a different machine shop(these guys are total crap and actually destroyed my crank, but I will leave that drama out of this thread, also it was not the guy that did my head)

ARP mains installed:

RS Machine Pistons and ARP rod bolts:

Block assembled:

I also decided to go and do all my bushings. I do not have pics of the process. In fact I only have 1 and it is of how bad my trailing arm bushing was..and I actually did a track day on these...

Think it was time for a new one?

Got it tuned at Church Automotive testing. However, the first time I went, I got sent home, because I had a VERY slight rod knock. So I went home dropped the oil pan and found this:

Heh sometimes you just need the right tool:

The arrow actually worked good to hold the pistons down.

Well all of that work was for nothing and my next attempt at tuning failed as well. Ended up taking the entire engine back out and apart and found this, on the same rod journal as the last time...mind you this was after only 150 miles...

...discovered the machine shop took all the nitride coating off my crank and it was as soft as butter...so I had to buy another one:

Well after I got all those issues squared away it was finally time to tune this girl

They said my intake and exhaust was way too restrictive. They installed another intake and it increased my horse power by 10whp over the aem sri...so I went home and made myself a new intake with the exact specs theirs was:

Well here is how the car looks today:

Here she is getting my alignment at West End:

She weighs 2422lbs with full interior. Not bad considering I have only really shaved weight from the engine bay, but still has quite a bit of fat she can shed.

Can't wait to test out my new tires (Hankook RS3's) and my new alignment. Should all be a major upgrade from my Yokohama S.Drives and Sears alignment...

I also forgot to post about the headache I have had with piston rings and bearings with this rebuild.

So during the rebuild, first my car went through 3 sets of main and rod bearings, which was a huge waste of money(Due to machine shop messing up crank). After I got that issue squared away, the piston rings were giving me nothing but problems. The car kept burning oil and smoking, almost like the rings weren't seating. I I ended up rehoning and redoing the rings 4 times in total...(the most recent time was just 2 and a half weeks ago) which also did not fix the issue, no matter how precise I was on both install and break in... Which has made me conclude that the piston to wall clearance has to be off, and seeing how it is max bore for stock sleeves, it is a goner, and to me it is not worth resleeving...So I am just going to continue to drive it and track it for the remainder of the year, until I can save up for another(unmolested) block to rebuild, basically start fresh with the bottom end this time and going to take it to a better machine shop...

Track day went well. Was running a 2:15-2:17 pace all day. Had a few close calls with people spinning right in front of me, primarily a red s2k with white/silver rims...wish I had that session on video. Dude almost took me out twice, once by spinning out going down phil hill right in front of me, and again when he missed/didn't know the pit entrance and thought using his blinker while dive bombing(across my front bumper) in to the pit opening that's at sunset was a good idea... but then elton parked him and all was well. I get that he was probably nervous, but safety first man. Hopefully he comes back out to the track, but is a little safer to be around next time and learns a lot.

Here is some footage from the track day.

Still have a lot to work on, but a fun day none the less! Can't wait until I start getting more seat time. That's priority number 1 right now.

Youll get there bro! How did you do this last time? Any vids?

I wasn't satisfied with those times. I mean the consistency is a good sign I guess, but next time I will be aiming for 12 and under. I know exactly what I need to do to get there, the video makes it very clear hahah. But maybe I am being too hard on myself...it was only my 2nd time at BW and only my 3rd event ever... lol

i have video of one run group. but, i think im going to edit that foorage after car show footage.

Thats still a decent time dude. Youll do way better next time! And wow those tires have probably been heat cycled so much and are hard as hockey pucks lol. Get some new shoes for that bad boy. Youll be getting teens in no time, just keep it up.

Oh I see man. Well when you get it done let me know. I wanna watch it.
