99 Integra Ls

I have a 5 speed 1999 Integra LS. I believe its a B18B1 but i am not sure. I have installed an aftermarket cold air intake, NGK Iridium spark plugs + Plugs, new fuel filter, new oil + filter, and i am about to install a short throw shifter and distributor cap + rotor.

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with the Skunk2 intake manifold ---> http://store.skunk2.com/engine-tuning/pro-series-intake-manifolds/pro-series-intake-manifold-101.html and the Skunk2 throttle body ----> http://store.skunk2.com/pro-series-throttle-body-94.html

The intake manifold seems to have the largest power band which is 3000-8800 rpms. This will be a daily driver and not just raced so i want performance as well as efficiency. Are there any better manifold + throttle bodies for my 99 Ls?

This is only my second week with the car so I'm just staring to learn everything. Any information will be a lot of help. So ill just start off by saying Thank You.

If I were you, I wouldn't buy a new intake manifold, there's really no point unless you go turbo. You should buy an exhaust and headers though.

Yes, as fortune cookie here said an intake manifold is overkill for you right now, you should get a header and exhaust next

How would it be overkill? Sorry, i just dont understand.
And I'm not really worried about my exhaust being loud, i just want better performance. So which header and exhaust would be best? A 4-2-1? Or a 4-1?

for the b18b1? probably a 4-2-1 because a 4-1 helps in the higher rpms, whereas the 4-2-1 helps in the mid to low rpms and our b18b's dont make much power in the top rpm range

no. 4-1 is for lower end torque. 4-2-1 is for mid to high range.

So a 4-2-1 would be the way to go? What are some good brands of headers for integras?

Why wouldn't you get an IM? It's on my list of things to do after talking to some folks around the track

because it will drown out ur stock cams ,so intake goes with cams if u get intake u need to upgrade ur cams to be effective

Also set aside ~$50-$60 to take the car to a dyno and see what you make before all this stuff and then after. I have a feeling you will be disappointed, especially if you do just the intake manifold and no exhaust.

Think about this, air that goes in must go out. If you upgrade the air intake and intake manifold you are "basically" taking in more air, where does it go? Into your stock low flowing header, cat, and exhaust. Well that doesn't help does it.

The other thing to consider with the air in, air out concept is that you need to have the power to move the air. With the low HP of the b18b1 you aren't going to gain a lot by doing huge upgrades to without doing something to improve the power of the motor itself. Then you get into upgrading the cams, changing the compression ratio, etc.

Also, will the ECU know what to do with all this extra air in and out? Will it throw everything off and be putting too much fuel or timing in and effectively killing any gains you may have had?

A better question is, what is your ultimate goal (from what I've seen it's to have a "peppy" daily driver), and what is your budget?
